BMW launches BMW X5

BMW, the luxury car maker, officially launched the new BMW X5 in the Indian market. The new model has been launched in two variants: BMW x5 xDrive50i (petrol) and BMW X5 xDrive30d (diesel) and can be ordered immediately at any of the present 18 BMW dealer facility across India. The petrol and the diesel version of the car are priced at Rs 69.5 lakhs and 52.9 lakhs respectively, all India exclusive showroom price.

 

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Dr. Andreas Schaaf, President, BMW India said, BMW  is confident of further increasing its sales owing to the growth in the Indian market. With 3,301 cars delivered to customers till August 31, 2010, in this calendar year, the sales numbers have already grown over 40% from last year, he added.

 

The new BMW X1 is also scheduled to be launched in India by the end of 2010, which will also be produced in the BMW’s Chennai plant along with the BMW 3 series and BMW 5 series. The automobile giant which is looking to expand the dealers network from the existing 18 to 22 in 2011, will be increasing the investment in India to over Rs 1.8 billion by mid of 2012 from the present Rs 1.1 billion, confirmed the President.
