Global brands revisit India with revised strategies

A number of international fashion & lifestyle brands are returning to India, albeit  with revised business strategies,  more suited to the Indian environment.  Some of these had exited Indian marketplace during the economic downturn.  GAS, the Italian apparel brand entered India through a fully-owned subsidiary—GAS Jeans Pvt Ltd and has been appointing franchisees.  C & J Clark International on the othar hand, has opened five standalone stores, in partnership with the Future Group.  The venture plans to open more standalone and SIS stores in February and March next year.  The brands, have taken time off to understand the Indian market scenario.  Espirit International( Now a part of Madura Garments) is also reported to be reconsidering its  India strategy.  “We are discussing very closely with Espirit ( The parent Company) how to expand the brand in India for closer cooperation. More things need to flow in the country,” Manjula Tiwari, CEO of Espirit India stated.
