Maritime by San Lorenzo at Taj Lands End

Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the iconic Knightsbridge restaurant San Lorenzo, owned by Lorenzo Berni, will make its international debut travelling to India this summer with the opening of Maritime by San Lorenzo at Taj Lands End in Mumbai.

The new restaurant will serve Italian specialities, drawing inspiration from Lorenzo Berni’s family recipes served at the West London restaurant.  Alessandro Bechini and Marco Foroni, two San Lorenzo trained Italian chefs will launch Maritime by San Lorenzo in Mumbai.

Mr. Lorenzo Berni, Owner said “Many special moments in my life have had a connection to India; the first date with my wife Mara was at an Indian restaurant and, as a family, we would always take our three children out to eat Indian food on Sundays. This business venture with the Taj Group was meant to be. I want to show India how Italian ‘mammas’ and ‘nonnas’ cook at home.” 

 The menu at Maritime by San Lorenzo comprises San Lorenzo’s signature dishes, from Risotto with prawns and courgettes to Tagliata of chicken breast with balsamic sauce. Consistent with Indian culinary habits, the menu will feature plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. The integrity of the ingredients, many of which come directly from Italy, will follow through to desserts, with San Lorenzo’s famous homemade ice creams.

 The wine list at Maritime by San Lorenzo is diverse and features 64 Italian wine labels. For those seeking a tasty tipple, the Prosecco Bar will serve a variety of cocktails, from Kir Royals to fruity Bellinis.
