Sanjay Dave: Chairperson, CODEX

India’s Sanjay Dave has been re-elected as chairperson of the CODEX Alimentarius Commission at the world food standard body’s annual meeting. This is his third consecutive stint in the above-mentioned capacity.

Further, the setting up of the CODEX Committee on Spices and Culinary Herbs got approved.

Dave had earlier stated that India had proposed that a committee be instituted for spices, as there were no standards for the same. Since the other countries backed the proposal, he added that India would host and even bear the expenditure incurred on the committee.
