Fiona Diamonds is a lab-grown diamond jewelry brand, founded in 2004 by co–founders Parag Agrawal and Saurabh Agrawal. The Mumbai-based company focuses on sustainable, conflict-free, and affordable luxury jewelry segments.
The brand started its retail journey with its first retail outlet at Opera House, Mumbai, traditionally known as the heart of India's diamond trade. The brand today has 10 retail outlets through a mix of company and franchise-operated stores.
Talking about the company’s footprint in India, Parag Aggawal, Co-founder and CEO, Fiona Diamonds, ‘‘We have recently opened a company-owned store at DLF Gurugram, and our new franchise store will open at Janpath Road, Bhubaneswar near Diwali, taking our total retail footprint to ten stores across Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Prayagraj and Bhubaneswar.’’
Fiona Diamonds offer gemstone specialties, core jewelry segment, signature design lines like Eterna, Hive, Bal Gopal, Lil'tusks, and Evil Eye, and gold vermeil. The brand features an inventory of over 3,000 distinct jewelry designs certified by major international labs like the International Gemological Institute (IGI) and the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).
Further discussing the latest collection, Parag shares, ‘‘We have recently come up with four sub-collections: OMG – The Divine Edit for devotional jewelry pieces. Makhan Chor pendant, Peeping Pets showcasing pet motifs for self-purchase and friend-gifting, Wild Ones for wildlife-inspired jewelry and Lucky Charms & Curios for charms and talismans.
Parag further shares about the festive season and how Fiona Diamonds manages its inventory to meet growing demand during the season.
He says: ‘‘Navratri and Karva Chauth skew self-purchase. Dhanteras is the high-ticket gifting peak. Diwali is the time for family gifting. With Diwali falling late this year, the festive tail runs straight into the wedding season, so bridal has to be ready earlier than usual.’’
He reveals that the SKU-level management depends upon ERP data, rate of sale by store and channels across the last three festive cycles The brand ensures that the defined festive core must never go out of stock at any store or digital touchpoint. The brand also upholds made-to-order jewelry demands during the festive season.
Parag says that the manufacturing capacity in Surat has to be blocked months ahead of the festive season to ensure sufficient jewelry stock-ups.
Fiona Diamonds creates made-to-order, hyper-personalised jewelry for its customers. Parag says that the brand builds products that nobody can imagine in the fine jewelry segment, disrupting the gifting and the diamond jewelry market. A customer can change metal, carat, stone size, or bring us an idea entirely their own, and the brand creates it.
Further discussing some of the key consumer trends during the festive season, Parag shares that the gold prices are reshaping the jewelry basket as consumers visibly buy less gold at the same budget. As a result, consumers are shifting to light weighted gold with larger stones. This directly impacts the lab-grown segment , and is one of the biggest demand drivers for the festive season. Self-purchase is another demand driver for festive season jewelry purchases.
‘‘Lab-grown diamond jewelry has moved from value-conscious purchase to customers’ choice-where customers are gradually asking about design and finish, and not the price,’’ says Parag
Gifting and Omni channel presence of the lab-grown diamond segment is further increasing the demands for the segment.
Discussing the brand’s marketing strategy, Parag says, ‘‘From Navratri, the market becomes a wall of identical discount creatives. Joining it will make us invisible. Our lead story is the design itself. We hold price discipline. We cap discounting rather than escalate it, and spend the margin on product innovation…. Our brand communication is layered — a national brand layer, plus local activation per store. Our existing customers get first access via WhatsApp CRM, ahead of any public campaign. It's consistently our highest-return festive activity.’’
Fiona Diamonds is a digital-first brand. The brand favours a wide base of micro and mid-tier influencing voices over one celebrity signing as it provides better economics, measurable results, and repeatable initiatives.
Parag further says, ‘‘More importantly, we match creators to sub-collections rather than the entire brand. The audience conversions to such tailored initiatives are far better than a generic fashion placement. Moreover, Meta and Google helps boost organic searches and performance, while our store teams produce a meaningful short-form content.’’
Parag talks about some of the operational challenges during the festive season such as gold price volatility, peak season capacity obstacles and challenges to ensure consistency across formats.
When gold moves sharply, managing price cadence, and repricing becomes a great challenge for jewelry retailers. Also, karigars/craftmen have their own festive calendars, so demand peaks exactly when the working capacity decreases. As a result, the brand blocks its Surat capacity well ahead of festive time and freezes new SKU introductions about three weeks before Dhanteras, so the shop floor produces known designs at speed. Moreover, consistency across formats needs tight ERP control and daily exception alerts.
Parag finally discusses the success metrics during the festive season. He says that gross margins, new customer acquisition, repeats and referral rates define our festive season success rather than discounting.
‘‘We analyze designs are preferred by the customers, our made-to-order and on-time delivery rates, walk-in-to-billing conversion, franchise partner profitability, and customer retention to calculate our success. The real test of a festive campaign is who comes back in January 2027,’’ signs off Parag.
