Kalyan Jewellers India Limited has unveiled a regional brand - Akshaya Thanga Maligai (ATM) in Tamil Nadu. Kalyan has provided the name, identity and go-to-market plan for its regional jewellery brand. The company had flagged its intent to enter the regional/mass jewellery segment as a distinct growth engine, alongside Kalyan and Candere.
ATM opened its first showroom at Panagal Park, T Nagar, Chennai’s most prominent jewellery retail catchment, on August 21, 2026. A teaser campaign has already begun in the market, and the company has signed Tamil film actor Sivakarthikeyan as brand ambassador, a move aimed at building rapid recall for a new-to-market name in a category where trust and local affinity drive purchase decisions.
The launch expands KJIL’s addressable market by enabling the company to participate in customer segments that exhibit a strong preference for locally positioned jewellery brands, while complementing the existing Kalyan and Candere formats.
Unlike Kalyan’s pan-India format, ATM has been built ground-up for a single state. The company said inventory will be curated specifically for Tamil Nadu preferences with designs, weights and price points aligned to regional occasions and buying patterns, thus positioning ATM to compete directly with entrenched regional jewellery chains rather than Kalyan's own store network.
Ramesh Kalyanaraman, Executive Director, Kalyan Jewellers India Limited, said: “Akshaya Thanga Maligai reflects our belief that regional markets offer significant long-term growth opportunities when approached with a truly local proposition. Tamil Nadu is one of India’s largest and most evolved jewellery markets, making it the natural choice for our first regional brand. By combining a distinctly Tamil identity with Kalyan Jewellers’ sourcing capabilities, quality standards and customer-first approach, we believe ATM is well positioned to build meaningful scale across the state through our franchise-led expansion model.”
The company plans to open 5 stores in the state by this year and intends to establish the concept in Tamil Nadu before evaluating similar regional formats in other markets.
Akshaya Thanga Maligai is a Tamil Nadu-focused jewellery brand from the house of Kalyan Jewellers, built to serve regional design and occasion-led demand with hallmarked gold and certified diamond jewellery. The brand is backed by Kalyan Jewellers’ retail scale, sourcing and quality-assurance systems, ATM will cater to customers who currently shop with regional and local jewellery chains.
Ekatra Retail Ventures Pvt. Ltd., a design, technology and content company, has raised INR 10 crore in strategic investment at a valuation of INR 100 crore, within 100 days of launch. The capital will support brand building, retail expansion and product innovation across India and international markets.
The round saw participation from strategic investors, and follows INR 10 crore of founder capital deployed over two years of pre-launch development. Founded by Pavitra Gandhi, Ekatra has also announced Ekta Kapoor and Sussanne Khan as co-founders, with Sussanne Khan additionally taking on the role of co-founder and Design Director.
Ekatra owns its end-to-end value chain on a vertically integrated, farm-to-finger model. The company grows and cuts its own Type II lab-grown diamonds — the rarest category, roughly 2% of all diamonds — and holds four patented cuts, including the 108-facet Shristi Ratna, alongside proprietary hollow gold construction technology.
Pavitra Gandhi, Founder, Ekatra Jewels, said, “Ekatra was built with the belief that the future of luxury lies in owning every part of the journey, from innovation and craftsmanship to consumer experience. This investment validates our vision and gives us the momentum to scale thoughtfully, expand globally and continue creating jewellery that blends technology, design and everyday elegance.”
Vasuki Punj, Founder & Strategic Investor, said, “From day one, our focus has been on building a differentiated business with strong fundamentals, not chasing short-term milestones. This investment reflects confidence in our long-term vision, our integrated model and our ability to create a globally relevant luxury brand from India.”
Ekta Kapoor, Co-Founder, Ekatra Jewels, said, “Every industry eventually reaches a point where convention has to make way for reinvention. I believe luxury is at that moment today. Ekatra isn't here to participate in the category; it's here to challenge it, with innovation, design and a completely new way of thinking about fine jewellery. The brands that will define the future are the ones that dare to rewrite the rules, and that's exactly what we're building.”
The announcement comes as gold trades at record highs of over INR 1.5 lakh per 10 grams in India, up more than 30% in a year, forcing the industry to confront how much metal a piece actually needs. Ekatra spent its two pre-launch years answering that question: its hollow gold construction technology delivers the scale and presence of statement jewellery using a fraction of the gold — engineering the volume rather than buying it.
Sussanne Khan’s newly launched OH MY GOLD collection is the first full expression of that work.
Sussanne Khan, Co-Founder and Creative Director, Ekatra Jewels, said, “With the OH MY GOLD collection, we wanted to challenge the idea of what statement jewellery can feel like. The collection is built on one bold idea, jewellery can look chunky, big and luxurious without using a lot of gold. By bringing together real gold, smart engineering and lab-grown diamonds made in India, we’ve created pieces that make a statement while remaining surprisingly light and effortless to wear every day. It’s the look of heavy jewellery, without the heaviness.”
With a library of more than 5,000 designs developed for India, the United States and the Middle East, Ekatra aims to build a globally relevant luxury brand from India.

By building a network across South Extension, Pitampura and Gurgaon, Keemti is bringing its contemporary jewellery collections, certified lab grown diamonds, and factory-direct value closer to consumers across the region while laying the foundation for its next phase of growth in North India.
The expansion in Delhi-NCR also reflects Keemti’s broader ambition to scale rapidly across the country. As it strengthens its presence in existing markets, the brand is building a national retail and omnichannel network designed to make high-quality lab grown diamond jewellery more accessible to a new generation of Indian consumers.
Keemti’s stores feature an extensive range of jewellery across 14K gold and 925 sterling silvers, including both studded and non-studded collections. The assortment spans everyday jewellery, workwear, rings, earrings, pendants, bracelets, mangalsutras, and occasion wear, designed for the many facets of modern life. Rooted in Keemti’s philosophy of intentional design and accessible luxury, the collections combine contemporary aesthetics, exceptional craftsmanship, and the brilliance of certified lab grown diamonds. Customers also benefit from lifetime buyback and exchange on eligible jewellery, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to quality, trust, and long-term value.
A key differentiator for Keemti is its access to the Kothari Group’s extensive manufacturing expertise across the USA, Europe, and the Middle East. Through strong in-house manufacturing capabilities and a factory-direct approach, Keemti eliminates multiple layers of intermediaries in the traditional jewellery supply chain. This vertically integrated model gives the brand greater control over quality, craftsmanship, and pricing, enabling it to offer thoughtfully designed jewellery at compelling value without compromising on design or finish.
Speaking about the brand’s continued expansion, Sunil Kothari, Chairman, Keemti Jewels, said: “Delhi-NCR is an important growth market for Keemti, and the opening of our third store in the region reflects the confidence we have in it as one of India’s most important jewellery markets. We are seeing a clear shift in the way consumers here engage with lab grown diamonds. Awareness and acceptance are growing, and purchase decisions are increasingly being driven by design, quality and value rather than convention alone. Consumers are also looking at diamond jewellery beyond traditional occasions, choosing contemporary, versatile pieces that can become part of their everyday wardrobes and reflect their individual style. With South Extension, Pitampura and now Gurgaon, we are able to serve these evolving preferences across distinct consumer catchments, while offering thoughtfully designed jewellery, exceptional craftsmanship and factory-direct value. This growing adoption gives us strong confidence in the market and is an important part of our larger ambition to build Keemti into a national jewellery brand with a meaningful presence across India.”
Sharing his vision, Armaan Kothari, Founder, Keemti Jewels, added:“Keemti was created for a new generation of Indian consumers who see jewellery as an expression of individuality, ambition, and personal milestones. The response to the brand has given us the confidence to scale rapidly, and Delhi-NCR is central to that journey. Its vibrant and discerning consumer base has a strong affinity for design and luxury, making it a natural market for Keemti. As we scale across India, we want to build Keemti into a brand that grows with a fundamental shift in how the next generation is buying jewellery. Consumers are becoming more design-conscious, more open to lab grown diamonds, and more focused on versatility, individuality and value. Our vision is to respond to that change at scale, building a strong national footprint while creating a jewellery brand that remains closely connected to how consumers’ tastes, aspirations and purchase behaviors are evolving.”
The Gurgaon launch marks the latest step in Keemti’s accelerated national expansion strategy. Alongside its flagship store in Andheri, Mumbai, and its growing presence across Pune, Indore and Delhi-NCR, the brand is scaling its physical retail network while strengthening its e-commerce and marketplace presence. Through this omnichannel approach, Keemti aims to expand into high-potential markets across India and make lab grown diamond jewellery increasingly accessible to consumers nationwide.
Forevermark Diamond Jewellery, the retail brand from De Beers Group, has expanded into South India with the opening of its first store in Bengaluru. Located at Phoenix Mall of Asia, the new boutique marks the brand's entry into one of India's key luxury consumption markets.
The Bengaluru launch takes Forevermark Diamond Jewellery's retail network in India to eight stores. The company is targeting a network of 20 stores across the country by the end of 2026 as it continues to expand its presence in high-potential markets.
The new boutique offers Forevermark's portfolio of natural diamond jewellery, including the Icon, Avaanti and Millemoi collections. Customers can also explore solitaire, bridal and high jewellery pieces.
The store introduces the brand's Endless Aisle concept to India for the first time. The interactive digital feature allows shoppers to browse a wider selection of Forevermark collections beyond the products displayed within the physical store.
Commenting on the launch, Mallikarjuna Reddy Yarabolu, Managing Director, Forevermark, De Beers India Pvt. Ltd., said, "The opening of our Bengaluru store marks an important step for Forevermark Diamond Jewellery as we strengthen our presence in South India and bring our exceptional natural diamond jewellery and personalised retail experience closer to discerning consumers in the region. Since launching our retail journey in September 2025, we have expanded to eight stores across India & strengthened our ecommerce platform, reflecting the strong consumer response to our brand and collections. The Bengaluru store further reinforces our commitment to growth in key markets, and we remain on track to expand our network to 20 stores by the end of this year. We are delighted to bring the Forevermark experience to the city and look forward to being part of our customers' most cherished milestones through our collection of beautifully crafted natural diamond jewellery."
The brand has also introduced launch benefits for its first 50 customers, including purchase vouchers and an additional 5% value on gold exchange for one month. The store also offers the Moment Plan, a savings programme that enables customers to pay in 10 monthly instalments, with Forevermark contributing the 11th instalment.
The Bengaluru store reflects Forevermark's focus on combining physical retail with digital tools and personalised shopping experiences. The expansion comes as luxury jewellery consumption continues to grow in India's major urban markets, supported by rising purchasing power and increasing consumer interest in branded natural diamond jewellery.
With its entry into Bengaluru, Forevermark Diamond Jewellery has strengthened its presence in South India and added another key market to its growing retail network. The company plans to continue expanding its store presence across India as it works towards its target of 20 outlets by the end of 2026.
