Professionalism spells success

Mr Kamal Taneja, Managing Director, Taneja Developers and Infrastructure, talks about various projects of the company in an interview to the Retailer

 

Retailer: What constitutes the profile of the company?

Kamal Taneja (KT): TDI is the flagship company of Taneja Group and has more than two decades’ experience it its field. The company has presently 17 malls cum multiplexes and eight residential townships spread across Delhi and other cities of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. TDI owns best professionals with rich experience and expertise. Mr DN Taneja (Chairman) takes care of ‘strategy and operations’ pertaining to residential, commercial, retail, infrastructure, hotels and other business lines while Mr Ravinder Taneja (Vice-Chairman) is responsible for corporate strategy, finance, commercial operations and day-to-day affairs of the company. Backed by professionals of high competence, the company has been able to catch the attention of international chains, multinational companies, public and private sector banks and other reputed business houses.

 

Retailer: What is special about your malls?

KT: We have always given priority to customer satisfaction and providing quality product at affordable price. We have taken extreme care in deciding ‘tenant mix’ in all our malls. Our ability to meet the ever-growing requirements of the real estate market stems from a strong foundation of professionalism, integrity and unrivalled market knowledge.

 

Retailer: Who are the anchor tenants and prominent brands in TDI malls?

KT:   Anchor tenants comprise powerful brands. They are Reliance Retail for TDI Fun Republic, Moti Nagar; Pantaloon for TDI Mall, Agra; Westside for TDI Mall, Rajouri Garden; Adlabs for TDI Mall, Kundli; Fame Multiplex for TDI Mall, Kundli and Jalandhar; Footmart for TDI Mall, Kundli; Big Bazar & PVR for TDI Mall, Moradabad and Waves for TDI Paragon, Rajouri Garden. Retailer: How do you assess the change in Indian shoppers’ preferences seen during the past few years?

KT: People have become more fashion conscious and brand conscious. Observed first in metros and big cities, this trend has now percolated to smaller cities. Residents of cities like Sonepat, Panipat, Agra, Chandigarh, Mohali, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Moradabad, Meerut and Indore look forward to realtors developing new projects that would elevate their housing, shopping and entertainment experience and make their quality of life on a par with international standards. We can also see traditional markets making way for new formats such as departmental stores, hypermarkets, supermarkets, specialty malls and theme malls.

 

Retailer: Do you take any special measure to ensure safety and security in and of the mall?

KT: Security systems in our malls comprises many a element that work together and provide a fully secured environment from all points of view. We appoint security personnel, install fire alarm and extinguishing system, make prominent entry and exit points besides equipment of systems like lifts, escalators, emergency exits. We do practice regular frisking by the security personnel at the entrance of each mall.
