Mr Atma Ram Gupta, Chairman, ARG Group, speaks about the various mall projects of the company in a discussion with the Retailer

 

Retailer:  How do you define ARG in brief?

Atma Ram Gupta (ARG): Established in 1989, ARG Group is a renowned name in real estate business. ARG Group entered the real estate business with Apollo apartments, a residential project at Jaipur. The Group provided the citizens of Jaipur numerous residential and commercial complexes of finest quality and also established itself successfully in other parts of India.

 

Retailer: What are the projects of the company?

 ARG: ARG Group is involved into residential, commercial, shopping malls and integrated township projects. The Group has already completed various residential and commercial projects at Jaipur and is coming up with projects in Kota, Ajmer and Gwalior.  At present, Dindayal City Mall in Gwalior (M.P.) and City Mall in Kota (Rajasthan) are in the process of completion. They are the first mega malls in the cities, located at very prime locations and have all flavours of a mall like multiplex, anchor store, food court, fine dine restaurants, entertainment zone for kids, shopping etc.

 

Retailer: What is the strategy followed for your projects? Which brands (specify anchor) are present in your malls?

ARG: First of all, we do a survey of the city and find out the requirements and tastes of the people. Accordingly, we take the decision of the type and size of the project. Depending on the survey report, we search for suitable land and design our projects. We try to provide for clients all kind of facilities with latest technologies.

The brand mix in our malls consists of Fun Cinemas (4-screen multiplex), Big Bazaar (anchor), Jammin (entertainment zone), Mc Donald’s, Zodiac, Arvind, Reid & Taylor, VIP Bags, Raymonds, Pepe, Levis, Nike, Welspun, Titan, Timex, My Dollar Store, Provogue, Café Coffee Day, Liberty, Woodland, Royal Sporting House, Lilliput, Walk in M&B, Turtle, Biba, Hoffmen, Koutons, Catmoss, Siyaram’s, Archies, Hot ‘N’ Juicy, Sweet World, Cantabill, Signature, Hakoba, Hues, Killer, Spykar, Belmonte, Moustache, Mufti, RPG Cellucom and many more.  

 

Retailer: Have you been able to deliver your malls in time?

ARG: Yes, we always make sure that all our projects viz. residential, commercial or shopping malls are delivered in time.

 

Retailer: What is your mantra for the success of a shopping mall?

ARG: Our mantra for success of a shopping mall is ‘Suits to all’ - a proper retail mix to meet the diverse requirements of shoppers with sufficient infrastructure support. The mall should cater to all sections of shoppers, be it a kid, youth or an elderly person. Along with shopping, it should also have entertainment and F & B mix.

 

Retailer: How do you see the future of shopping malls in India?

ARG: Great! India has come up as the one of the most attractive destinations in emerging retail markets around the globe. The country is moving towards organised retail.  In a very short span of time, the number of malls has increased from zero to 100 and every aspect of retail is booming.
