CASE STUDY

Challenge

Every retail store in malls today hopes to convert its footfalls into sales and to work smoothly, mainly during all national holidays, Sundays and during sale period as well, when malls experience heavy footprint.  It was noticed that the retail stores inside malls were unable to make best use of the available resources owing to the lack of a professional supply chain service.

Solution

In January 2009, Safexpress launched a specialised service ‘Stock2Shelf’ for the malls across India. This was the first of its kind ‘end-to-end professional mall supply chain service’ in the country for the retail stores inside the malls. This end-to-end service has been addressing the supply chain management needs of key retailers across India in a specialised and competent manner.

The Stock2Shelf service guarantees ‘Time-definite’ delivery via efficiently trained team, which looks after stocks together with the required paperwork needed to enter the malls because of the increased security checks.  This service was launched to enable the store managers to operate efficiently. It allows these retails store owners of malls to serve their customers with a wider variety of goods.

For this pioneering service, Stock2Shelf, Safexpress has developed a new logo and dedicated vehicles painted in green colour that serve the retail stores inside malls. These vehicles operate 24x7, 365 days a year.

Benefits

This service aids the store owners of a mall in enhancing their brand image and provides complete mall supply chain services, inclusive of movement of retail and lifestyle goods, inspection and estimation, expert packaging, security clearance, storage and destination delivery, unpacking and reassembling/setting of retail goods, and finally reverse logistics.

This service has been provided to all the top malls in Gurgaon including Ambience mall, DT City Centre, Gurgaon Central, MGF Mega City, MGF Metropolitan, DT Mega Mall, Sahara Mall and DLF Grand Mall.

“My outlook for 2010 with respect to retail business is positive. I envisage an upswing in the industry in the coming year. Retail will also witness the growth of relatively smaller brands with focus on specialised lines of business and customer segments in the times to come. However, supply chain & logistics will prove to be the critical success factor. The battle for market leadership in 2010 will not be fought between organisations, but between their supply chains.”
