American fast-food chain KFC has dropped the use of its much-known catchphrase, "It's finger-lickin' good" globally.
This happens after five months, the QSR chain stopped using the wording in its ads in the US.
The Louisville-based company said it would no longer use the phrase in global ads.
"We find ourselves in a unique situation having an iconic slogan that doesn't quite fit in the current environment,” said Catherine Tan-Gillespie, CMO, KFC Global in a statement.
“We are pausing the use of It's Finger-Lickin' Good, rest assured the food craved by so many people around the world isn't changing one bit,” she added.
KFC also mentioned that its 64-year-old catchphrase is not going away for good. Instead, it will remain in a kind of marketing cold storage until a day when everyone can again lick their fingers freely without fear of becoming ill due to a global virus.
