The crush for designer products is increasing in the Indian mindset. Designemporia is a unique junction for design lovers and designers to showcase the items. Surbhi Tanga Gupta, Co-founder, Designemporia.in shared the concept and plans with Ankur Gaurav.

Ankur Gaurav: What is the idea behind Design Emporio?

Surbhi Gupta: I am an architect by profession and always wanted to create a platform for all the designers. This is a unique platform for all types of designers to bring out who’s who of the design world.  

AG: Could you tell us more about the business model?

SG: Raman Tanga, my husband who has over 11 years of experience in IT solutions is handling the model. This model will give the designers the web space where they can feature their products and when the order is placed, we share 15 per cent of the Price.

AG: What is the USP of designemportia.in?

SG: The whole concept is unique. This is a platform for designers to market their products online, a place where budding designers can share space with the famous designers. One stop destination for all designers and design lovers. It has wide range of products from apparels to furniture.

AG: What is the price range of the products?

SG: The price range is very wide as the prices are set by the designers. The range would be from INR 500 to 100,000.

AG: Whom are you targeting for this?

SG: Our target group consists of all the design lovers from all age groups. Customers who want to indulge in luxury items who want to check out designed products, different and unique looking furniture and home décor items. As I said it is a one stop destination for all such design lovers. They include NRIs, and rich business class from tier-2 cities as well.

AG: What will be your marketing strategy to promote your portal?

SG: We are focusing on online advertising as this is an online portal and most of the TG consumes online information. We are also publicizing this through Vogue and a lot of online portals. We are not planning to promote this on TV or through any BTL activities.

AG: Can you tell us about the product portfolio?

SG: apparels, Bags, jewellery, shoes, lifestyle products like furniture and other home decor items. This is the broad classification of our product portfolio.

AG: How many designers are you associated with and what is the number of SKU’s at designemporia.in?

SG: At present we have 35 designers including names like Kavita Bhartia and Poonam Soni. Number of SKU’s at present is around 1.500. In future we plan to increase the designer base and offer more and more range of products.
