Adidas’s pop-up store uses laser body scan and sensors to design custom cloth

Adidas has launched a pop-up store in Berlin that will allow customers to design, knit, and purchase a sweater in four hours.

The store named, Knit For You, is located in a shopping centre in Berlin, Germany. Inside the store, customers can design their own sweater, which is made out of merino wool and costs $215.

First, the shopper enters a dark room in the store, where a laser body scan will determine their correct sweater size. To pick the design, different patterns will be projected on the chest.The patterns can be moved around on the sweater using hand gestures, which are picked up by sensors.

Design options are then sent to monitor screens where customers can test out different colours by putting swatches on the high tech gadget. The sweaters are knitted on machines right in the store.
