Metro Cash & Carry India mulls over relocation within Ludhiana

Wholesale retailer, Metro Cash & Carry India, has halted retail operations at its Ludhiana store, saying that the company is mulling over the choice of relocating to another location within the city.

In a statement, the company said, "In its quest for sustainable growth and expansion, Metro Cash & Carry India is reorganizing its operations in Ludhiana."

Metro Ludhiana store commenced operations in August 2011 from GT Road on National Highway I.

Arvind Mediratta, CEO, Metro India, said, "We are actively seeking out new places to expand our footprint and grow our topline. We're evaluating all options to improve operational efficiencies, including relocation within Ludhiana."

He said, "In order to ensure that Metro continues to service its customers based out of Ludhiana, the organization has extended its delivery services from Jalandhar store all the way to Ludhiana.”

He added, "We have ensured that the transition phase during reorganization is smooth and hassle-free for suppliers and customers alike."

Talking about re-deployment options available to Metro Ludhiana employees, Mediratta said that employees have the option to move to existing stores within Punjab or even outside the state.

Mediratta said, "Metro is a leading player in this industry and we are deeply committed in Punjab. We will keep our customers and suppliers informed about our decisions, and return with even better services and shopping experience."
