The new store spans 300 sq. ft. and will feature a wide range of electronics and computer hardware, including flagship ASUS products such as Vivobook, Zenbook, Republic of Gamers (ROG) laptops, gaming desktops, all-in-one desktops, and accessories. This store is ASUS's eighth location in Pune.

New Retail Liquor Store Opens at Delhi Airport's Terminal-3
 

The Delhi government's excise department has granted a licence to the Delhi Consumer’s Cooperative Wholesale Store Ltd to open a retail liquor store in the arrival area of Terminal-3 at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. This store marks the first L-10 liquor outlet at the airport under the current excise regime.

The new store, spanning 750 square feet, offers a self-service, walk-in experience where customers can choose from a wide range of national and international liquor brands registered with the excise department. Unlike other retail liquor shops in Delhi, which operate from 10 am to 10 pm, this store will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Previously, only duty-free liquor stores for international travellers operated at Terminal-3. With the opening of this new retail liquor store, domestic travellers and the airport’s large workforce now have access to a liquor outlet. The store features LED screens displaying a comparative rate chart of liquor prices across different parts of the country and supports various payment methods, including UPI, credit cards, and debit cards.

The strategic placement of the L-10 liquor store at Terminal-3 serves the substantial number of passengers and staff at the airport and addresses an unserved area near the Haryana-Delhi border. It also aims to curb the illegal supply of non-duty-paid liquor from neighboring states.

Under the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22, six premium liquor shops were operational in the airport’s domestic terminals but were closed in September 2022 when the government withdrew the excise policy amid investigations by the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate.

Domestic passengers are permitted to carry up to five liters of alcoholic drinks, with an alcohol content of less than 70 percent, across state borders. For beverages with an alcohol content of 24 percent or less by volume, this five-liter limit does not apply.

The new retail liquor store at IGI Airport’s Terminal-3 is set to serve a wide range of customers, providing convenience and potentially reducing the illegal supply of liquor from neighboring states. The initiative underscores the Delhi government's efforts to enhance services and regulatory compliance at one of India’s busiest airports.

This design incorporates warm tones, neutral colors, and materials like ceramics, tuff, wood, marble, esparto grass, and leather, creating a Mediterranean home atmosphere.

Mango Teen was launched in 2021 to address the fashion needs of youth between childhood and adulthood, offering contemporary and youthful designs. "The line fills an existing gap in the market and is leading the way with current, fresh, and youthful designs, setting the pace for contemporary young fashion," Moral noted.

The collection includes a variety of garments, footwear, and accessories, combining classic styles with contemporary touches and innovative prints. It offers adaptable outfits for everyday wear, evening plans, and formal events.

Initially, Mango Teen was marketed through online channels in close to 50 markets and pop-up stores in Barcelona, Granada, Marbella, and Mahón. The first physical store with a permanent Teen section opened in the Mango Kids store on Calle O'Donnell in Seville at the end of 2021. This was followed by additional openings in Valencia, Madrid, and Barcelona, with stand-alone stores in Barcelona, Platja d'Aro, and Zaragoza.

In 2023, Mango Teen expanded to the Canary Islands and Andalusia with stores in Tenerife, Granada, and Malaga. By the end of 2024, Mango Teen aims to continue its stand-alone store expansion, with a total of 25 dedicated stores and a presence in 95 markets through multi-line and online channels.

Multi-brand fashion retailer Shoppers Stop has announced plans to open 60 new stores under its affordable retail format INTUNE in the current fiscal year. This move aims to capitalize on mass premium opportunities and disrupt India’s value fashion landscape, according to the latest annual report of the K Raheja Corp group firm.

Shoppers Stop, competing with similar value formats like Trent’s Zudio and Landmark’s Max Fashion, is leveraging real-time insights for frequent product drops and assortment refinements to maintain a competitive edge.

“We are targeting 60 new stores in FY2024-25 backed by strategic investments in merchandising, store operations, and customer analytics capabilities,” the company stated.

Since launching INTUNE, Shoppers Stop has opened 22 stores within nine months, highlighting the rapid growth in the Indian value fashion segment driven by the aspirations of the burgeoning middle class. Managing Director and CEO Kavindra Mishra noted the “higher-than-expected results” in INTUNE's initial months.

In addition to expanding INTUNE, Shoppers Stop is growing its private labels to balance aspirations and affordability. “Our Private Apparel Brands account for approximately 19 percent of our total apparel business, with even higher contributions in non-metro areas and newer stores. In our online channels, private brands make up over 50 percent of the apparel business,” the report revealed.

Shoppers Stop's beauty brand Arcelia has also grown into a full-line beauty brand valued at over Rs 20 crore, offering a range of products from fragrances to skincare. “Together with HomeStop, we continue to meet all the fashion and lifestyle needs of young families,” the company added.

Overall, Shoppers Stop operates 112 stores across the country, along with 7 HomeStop stores, 22 beauty doors, 21 airport stores, and 22 INTUNE stores in 62 cities.

The Indian retail landscape is evolving rapidly, driven by increasing disposable incomes, evolving aspirations, and a demand for luxury and personalized experiences. The demographic landscape, dominated by a youthful population, is characterized by a growing brand consciousness influenced by global exposure and social media.

“Indian consumers have developed a refined palate for brands, seeking out established and premium labels, elevating the retail experience to an art form,” the report noted. This brand consciousness has led to increased demand for curated assortments of international and luxury brands.

Shoppers Stop is also expanding its beauty business through premium selections and personalized experiences. With exclusive partnerships with brands like Estée Lauder and Armani Beauty, it is strengthening its presence in the beauty segment as part of its premiumization strategy.

“Our strategic expansions included new partnerships and shop-in-shops such as Bath and Body Works, Dyson, Kiehl’s, Lancôme, Laura Mercier, and an expanded Clean Beauty section with Vanity Wagon,” the company stated, adding that in FY24, the beauty business reported a “Highest-Ever Annual Sale” of Rs 887 crore.

Shoppers Stop’s revenue from operations in FY24 stood at Rs 4,213.16 crore.

It has been an exciting month for us in Mumbai. Following the successful launch of our first store, we are thrilled to announce the opening of a second store within a month. This marks a major step forward in our expansion journey in India,” said Radeshwer Davar, country manager, New Balance India.

The newly opened store offers a meticulously curated assortment of performance and lifestyle products, showcasing proprietary technologies like Fresh Foam X and FuelCell. Founded in 1906 by William J. Riley as the New Balance Arch Support Company, New Balance initially specialized in manufacturing arch supports and other accessories aimed at enhancing shoe fit.

While the American footwear manufacturer ventured into India during the early 2000s, operations were halted shortly thereafter. However, in 2016, New Balance made a triumphant return by forging a distribution agreement with Mumbai-based The Major Brands Group, leading to the inauguration of its first store in India at DLF Mall of India, Noida. The subsequent establishment of its India subsidiary followed suit in 2022.

In February, the Boston-headquartered brand marked a significant milestone by unveiling its first company-owned store in the country in Hyderabad, swiftly followed by another opening in Pune in March. In 2023, New Balance reported global sales totaling $6.5 billion.

“We are excited to announce the opening of Apparel Group brand R&B’s newest store at Palarivattom. This marks the brand’s sixth store in Kerala and the 22nd store in India,” Apparel Group posted in a LinkedIn post while sharing images of the new store.

Kochi's first R&B store, located at Centre Square Mall, Rajaji Junction, opened in August 2023.

In India, R&B is present in cities including Kozhikode, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mangalore, and Mysore.

Apparel Group launched R&B in October 2012, with its first store at Muscat Grand Mall in Oman. The large-format store chain now operates over 135 outlets across eight countries, covering more than 20 lakh square feet of retail space.

R&B plans to expand its presence by launching 200 new stores across India and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region by the end of fiscal year 2025.

The brand has already opened over 12 new stores in the first quarter of FY25 in both India and GCC countries.
