Techno-services for eyes

Initiatives

All GKB showrooms have state-of-the-art Eye Testing & Contact Lens Clinic with Digital Eye Testing facility, qualified optometrists and highly trained counter sales personnel. The advanced spectacle lens manufacturing and processing units located at New Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Cochin supports the chain of retail optical outlets.

Marketing initiatives

The brand “GKB Opticals” is being promoted as a lifestyle optical retail chain through various ATL and BTL promotional media from time to time. The marketing team is centralised at the Head Office in Kolkata and execution of the promotions take place through various outsourced agencies in all cities.

Brand proposition

At GKB, we believe in moving with the time. Making sure that what we have to offer is the most advanced in the country, be it our lenses, frames or our eye testing facility. With more than 58 optical retail stores in India, GKB Opticals has channelised all its resources to meet customer expectations with matchless service.

The Challenges overcome

With all things being equal, good ambience, large stores, comfort, availability of all brands - private labels and international labels at all price segments, hi-end technology and perfect supply chain in place, trained man power and huge investments into marketing activities, all the retailers are fighting out for their market share. However, GKB’s five decade old retail experience is its USP, which has made it stand apart.

Expansion plan

The overall growth at GKB in the last two years was 20-25 per cent. Optical retail stores strength is expected to rise from the current 58 to 90 plus in 19 existing and 14 additional cities by 2011. The focus will be on the private labels and capturing a sizeable market share of the mid segment customers.

His understanding of the retail business and his learning in this process

“There are no doubts that the optical retail industry will continue to flourish, with entrepreneurs having the vision of expansion. The revolution is now going to percolate to the masses by entering the tier II and III cities, along with the metros.”
