Case study : NCR Corporation - India - Reliable service at an affordable price

NCR Corporation - India, was incorporated in July 1996, as a 100% subsidiary of NCR Corporation, based in Dayton, Ohio, USA. NCR’s Retail Self Service Solutions work in the areas of the improvement of service levels and operating efficiency for retailers, which include POS terminals, barcode scanners, scanner-scales, electronic shelf labeling, kiosks, applications software and self-checkout systems.

NCR India has played a significant role in revolutionising the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) marketplace in India.

NCR has a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Puducherry.  The Puducherry facility has a 100 per cent EOU (Export Oriented Unit) qualification.

Case Study

Golightly & Long (G&L) LLC currently operates 20 profit centers, including eight quick service restaurants (QSR), 11 convenience stores and one package liquor store.   The convenience stores run under the Cheers Food and Fuel brand; the restaurants operate under the Arby’s, Quiznos, Huddle House, Noble Roman’s/Tuscano’s and Farmer’s Kitchen brands. The convenience stores and restaurants are either joined or in close proximity to each other.

Challenges

G&L had been using a restaurant point-of-sale (POS) system, which did not provide comprehensive scheduling, and was equipped with a user interface that made it difficult to program new items. They also wanted a system that provided easier training of new employees and improved their ability to manage controllable expenses, such as payroll and food cost. Other key purchasing criteria included low cost of ownership, superior reliability and affordability. In short, G&L needed a system that would handle the complex combination of service, software viability and hardware performance, and enable them to maximize their QSR business operations efficiently.

Solution provided  and benefits

To support all of their software’s functionality, WAND Corporation, NCR’s hospitality partner, highly recommended and provided the NCR RealPOS 21 because, simply, it’s a more advanced, faster machine at an affordable price. The NCR RealPOS 21-a low profile, small footprint touchscreen workstation - is designed to deliver a new level of long-term investment value by combining the reliability and security of a retail hardened POS terminal with the performance and flexibility of industry-standard PC technology.

“G&L likes the NCR RealPOS 21 in part due to the improved processor speed compared to our older units. Also, the easy-to-use touchscreen makes accessing the POS software simple, especially with its 15” display. We’ve also appreciated the rugged nature of the unit, compared to more sensitive models out there. The high quality of NCR’s hardware coupled with WAND Corporation’s tried-and-true software solution set proved to be a pair of great choices for Golightly & Long.”
