Tech-makeover for retail points

The company is growing at 20 per cent and planning to enter tier II and tier III cities to reach out to the mid-sized retailers. The list of AGS’s clients includes the retailers like Future Group, Reliance Retail, Aditya Birla Retail, Carrefour and Globus.

CASE STUDY

AGS Retail division was started in 2005 as preferred partner of Wincor Nixdorf, Germany with the objective of extending Wincor Nixdorf Retail solution to the upcoming retailers in India. Its services to the following retailers show the efficacy of the retail solutions from AGS’s basket.

Reliance Retail

AGS bagged its first large order from Reliance Retail Ltd, the retail chain under Reliance Industries. Reliance Retail commenced operations with BEETLE /iSprint as the PoS (Point Of Sale) terminal for their first store.   AGS today has more than 8000 PoS terminals installed in Reliance Retail chain and supports them through an extensive network of AGS service engineers.

Aditya Birla Retail

With the growth of the retail industry, AGS PoS clientele also includes Aditya Birla Retail Ltd, the retail arm of Aditya Birla Group. Under the brand ‘more.’ it runs two formats, supermarket and hypermarket.  Today AGS supports ABRL with over 3500 BEETLE /iSprint PoS terminals on pan India basis.  AGS gave a major thrust to grow this vertical and transform the company in providing total in-store automation solution provider. The organised retail segment saw a dramatic change in using of technology. PC based PoS solution was no more considered as the platform for PoS for the retailers’ expansion plan.

Trent

Trent, a Tata group’s retail arm, which runs lifestyle chain Westside; Star Bazaar, a hypermarket chain; and Fashion Yatra, a complete family fashion store, migrated to BEETLE / iSprint as the hardware platform.

Future Group

Future Group, the largest retailer in India, transformed from using PC based PoS solution to standard specification hardware at the counter. AGS was instrumental in this transition for Future Group. With the increasing demand of standard hardware to support growth plan, came another requirement of application. Future Group evaluated many PoS applications and finalised on TP Linux Application Suite to be implemented for all types of formats like hypermarkets, supermarkets, etc. This software will help in streamlining the store processes and also improve customer experience across Future Group outlets. It reduces checkout time, provides more accurate billing and makes payments easier and more secure for the customers.

TP Linux application was implemented first in Big Bazaar within 45 days after finalisation in 2009. The first store which went live was at Big Bazaar store at Milan Mall in Mumbai. Today over 124 stores of Future Group is working on TP Linux application with near about 6000 BEETLE /iSprint PoS terminal across India.

Presently, AGS has more than 120 support locations across India and supports more than 18000 BEETLE / iSprint PoS Hardware.

Since we understand the requirement of today’s retailers, we have the infrastructure to support and meet their expectation level. We have acquired a good clientele for PoS software to serve our existing clients as well as new customers.
