Awesome Bikaneri delicacy!

At Bikanervala, quality is the passion and this spirit has lent them a cutting edge to predominate in the segment across the world. Their amazing success story is a subject to study.

In 1950, a large family of traditional halwais (food processors) from the famous city of Bikaner decided to explore business opportunities beyond Rajasthan, its traditional stronghold, and some of them migrated to Delhi. They brought with them a treasure of traditional recipes perfected by their forefathers, exotic ingredients and experience in the art of making sweets and namkeens. The Delhites relished their bikaneri bhujia and rasogollas and they grew to a famous sweetshop in the historic Chandni Chowk. Soon the love and affection of Delhites earned them the name Bikanervala.

The concept of building a brand like Bikanervala came into existence in the early 80s when their first sweet shop was set up in Karol Bagh. Slowly, company started focusing on product with longer shelf life and introduced the concept of packaged sweets and namkeens with the brand name, Bikano, which started its manufacturing unit in New Delhi in the mid 80s.

In 1997, the company planned its brand expansion with a professional approach and started exploring the franchisee business. Today, they are successfully operating 36 outlets in India and abroad and targeting to touch 45 outlets by 2012. Company also introduced the concept of small tuck shops which caters to the institutional areas with the brand name Bikano Chat Cafe in 2005, successfully running 80 outlets under this brand.

Initial growth

Bikanervala was the first to introduce the concept of Sweet Shop cum Veg Family Restaurant, clubbing all the varieties and categories from North Indian delicacies to South Indian cuisine to Chinese and continental dishes all available under one brand “Bikanervala”.

The franchised outlet was opened in the year 1992 in Kathmandu, Nepal. Overcoming the shortcomings of the first franchised outlet by incorporating more procedures, processes and system in the existing infrastructure, company came up with the second franchised outlet in the year 1998.
