REDEFINING LUXURY SHOPPING THROUGH 'THE COLLECTION'
Bengaluru’s landmark destination for luxury, The Collection (UB City), has been a one-stop mall for the elite and the aspirational section of the society. It is the only luxury mall in South India and among the top three in the country today. With a healthy tenant mix of international and national luxury brands, even celebrated brands like Louis Vuitton, Jimmy Choo, Salvatore Ferragamo, Giorgio Armani and Burberry have had a long-standing relationship with The Collection. The mall has 90% international brands while the remaining are the national ones. In addition, more than offering an amazing collection to the customers, the mall has also become a top-rated social destination.

From hosting Australian master chefs Gary Mehigan, George Calombaris and Matt Preston to screening sporting events like the Indian Premier League (IPL), Indian Super League (ISL) and the English Premier League (EPL) matches, The Collection has today grown to become the cultural and social hub of the city – the ultimate destination for all things related to luxury, art and culture.

“In this period of growing e-commerce retail, malls are reinventing physical experience and shoppers are spending long hours in these places. There are always aspects of physical shopping which online mediums cannot replicate and replace. Indian customers want the touch-and feel experience offered by malls, the heightened action and the experience of buzz,” says Uzma Irfan, Director, Prestige Group. Commenting about footfalls and conversions, she says that while brand names matter in luxury retail in India, luxury malls globally have gone a step ahead to provide the best-in-class entertainment to visitors to ensure regular footfalls and conversion.

“In the near future, concepts like virtual reality and augmented reality are expected to find space within malls. The use of technology will ensure more customized experiences for customers through beacons, digitalized fitting rooms and so on,” says Irfan. The mall developers highlight that they are always on the lookout for new opportunities and have plans of taking this concept to other cities in the future.
