Apple may open franchise stores in India

Since, leading iPhone maker Apple is still awaiting Government clearance to open company owned stores. The retailer may opt for franchise route to open at key locations in metropolitan cities of the country as reported in media.

The initial plan is to open five-six franchise run outlets spreading across 1,000 sq.ft of carpet area; while some stores may be as big as 5,000 sq.ft area and will be positioned as premium stores. The move is a part of strategy to retain its premium positioning in Indian market since the company experience brand dilution due to excessive online discounting.
