Chennai Super Kings launches style health club

In a recent development, Indian Premier League team Chennai Super Kings is all set to cash in on its fan base by launching resort- style health club in its home city Chennai. It is a kind of face saving exercise after the IPL match-fixing scandal. The official franchise holder of Chennai Super Kings Cement India is looking to venture into sportswear retailing and cricket gear in order to boost its income sources. The upcoming 30,000-square feet health club will be equipped with ultra modern facilities like gym, cafe, restaurant, and a rehabilitation centre for players. It is expected that health club will be in operational mode by the end of 2014. In a candid conversation with ET Chennai Super Kings (CSK) business head Chandrabhan Singh informed that health club will serve as the platform for a growing number of Chennai fans to meet and know each other. As of now, CSK has a fan base of over 21,000 paid members. Depending upon the success rate of health club, company will formulate its strategy to penetrate into other Indian cities.
