Mahindra First Choice Wheels bags award in retail excellence

Mahindra First Choice Wheels, a leading player in the ‘used’ car segment, conferred with ‘Best in Retail – Automotive’ award at Indian Retail & e-Retail Awards 2014. The company has grown by more than 20 per cent on a compounded basis and plans to expand its presence to 1,000 outlets over the next few years. It currently has a network of over 280 outlets, spread across 162 cities.

At the glittering ceremony, Decathlon Sports was declared the “Large Format Retailer of the Year.” Da Milano received “Fashion Accessory Retailer of the Year” and Big Bazaar Direct won “eRetail Store of the Year”.

The award ceremony, which honoured excellence in the retail sector, was a part of the recently held Indian Retail & e-Retail Congress 2014 at Hyatt Regency, Gurgaon.

The first edition of Indian Retail & e-Retail Congress 2014, organised by Franchise India, served as a platform for senior members of retail and consumer brands, to discuss the emerging trends as well as growth strategies.

In addition, retailers also highlighted their expectations from the new government and the steps needed to accelerate the growth of this sector. A key demand highlighted at this event related to providing industry status to the sector, and senior retail professionals stressed that it would facilitate greater flow of bank and allied institutional funds for meeting the expansion plans of small and large players.  This development comes at a time when annual sales in the retail sector are projected to reach $ 1.3 trillion by ’20.

This event also featured the Indian Retail and eRetail Awards 2014, and it sought to highlight the ‘leaders’ in different segments of the expanding modern trade, in terms of business performance, customer experience, innovation and leadership.

Similarly, the eRetail awards recognised ‘pure’ play e-commerce players as well as multi-channel retailers, in terms of their innovative strategies and game-changing operations.
