In a bid to boost the online-to-offline move, Paytm Mall today launched a connected PoS (Point of Sale) solution for retail stores enabling shopkeepers to manage their offline and online customers.
The Alibaba-backed company has also forayed into a strategic partnership with Asus India to implement this connected PoS solution at Asus retail stores, with plans to expand the offering to other brands and retail stores.
The PoS solution enables retailers to manage their store inventory on the cloud with complete visibility on the available stock, view sales, manage pending orders, instant customer billing, and payments, among other facilities.
“In our country, up to 80 % of offline retail stores do not have the necessary technology to manage their inventory and are not equipped to join the online commerce revolution,” said Amit Sinha, COO of Paytm Mall, said, “Through this connected PoS system, they can now cater to walk-in customers conveniently and can also fulfill online orders locally.”
As part of Paytm Mall’s partnership with Asus, the first product launched is Asus VivoBook X507 which is being offered at the same price across online and offline channels. Paytm Mall has also launched a digital experience zone within the Asus stores.
The e-commerce marketplace recently raised Rs 3000 crore in a round led by Japan’s Softbank which also saw participation from existing investor Alibaba. With the company’s coffers full and two major investors backing them, Paytm Mall seems to be leaving no stone unturned to tap deeper into the Indian retail market.
The company which claims to have exited FY18 at a gross merchandise volume (GMV) run rate of $3 billion, is targeting $10 billion run rate by the end of this fiscal. Paytm Mall also plans to triple its offline presence from the current 75,000 by the end of 2019.
Asus recently also inked an exclusive partnership with India’s biggest online retailer Flipkart for the latter to become the only sales channel for Asus ZenFones.
