Raghu Pillai: Value Head at Future Group

It has been reported that Mr Raghu Pillai, who had quit Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Retail as president and CEO (operations, strategy and business development) few months ago, will rejoin Future Value Retail as new chief executive from Octobler4, 2010.

Mr Pillai is sanguine to look forward to the new opportunity. Comfort factor or charisma, Mr Biyani has been luring some seasoned professionals into the Future Group over the last couple of months. The list includes Vibha Rishi, former marketing head at PepsiCo; V Vaidyanathan, former head of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance; and R Radhakrishnan, ex-CEO of Reliance Retail Hypermarket.

Future Value Retail (FVRL) is currently operating in 120 Big Bazaar and 170 Food Bazaar stores, among other formats, covering six million square feet of retail space. Mr Pillai would be extended his services once the group partners a foreign retailer.

In his early career prior to Pantaloon group, Mr Pillai served as the president and chief executive officer of retail sector at RPG Enterprises, handling the core responsibilities for building companies such as Food World Super Markets, Music World, Health & Glow and Spencer Giant Hyper Markets over seven years.
