Snapdeal’s Saurabh Bansal to join Lenskart as head of buying and merchandising

Eyewear retailer, Lenskart has roped in Snapdeal’s former vice-president and head of category management, Saurabh Bansal, for the role of SVP and head of buying and merchandising.

Bansal, after a three year stint with Snapdeal, has left the company. He was a VP and head of category management at Snapdeal with his latest role being head of Snapdeal Instant. While Snapdeal had ambitious plans for SD Instant, the e-tailer had to dissolve the team as it found itself amid a severe cash crunch raising a question mark on the company's survival.

Bansal is expected to work directly with Lenkart founder and CEO Peeyush Bansal to implement the company's expansion plan.

Before joining Snapdeal, he had led strategy and new business initiatives for Jubilant Enpro along with having a stint with Metro Cash & Carry and Spencer's Retail.

Lenskart has been one of the first startups to try out an omni-channel model and has managed to scale it up to over 300 offline stores now.
