Walmart India is looking at expanding its footprint in Uttar Pradesh. The company eyes to launch six more 'Best Price' modern wholesale stores in the state.
The new brick-and-mortar stores will be opened in Varanasi, Moradabad, Gorakhpur, Allahabad, Kanpur and Aligarh.
Vijeet Shekhawat, Vice President (Projects), Walmart India, said, “Talks are on with the Uttar Pradesh government to open new stores in the state and we expect to get the approval soon.”
The new 'Best Price' modern wholesale stores will add to the four existing stores the company operates in the state, two in Agra and one each in Meerut and Lucknow.
Walmart also has a fulfilment centre in Lucknow in order to cater to the business needs of underserved small businesses like kiranas/resellers, offices and institutions besides hotels, restaurants and caterers.
