With investment from ex-Flipkart executive, home services platform UrbanClap to further expand operations

UrbanClap, the home services marketplace, has raised about Rs 1.5 crore from former Flipkart CPO Mekin Maheshwari and Avaana Capital Founder Anjali Bansal. While Mekin has infused Rs 50 lakh in UrbanClap, Anjali invested Rs 99 lakh through her personal investment fund SAB Holdings.

With this investment, Maheshwari and Bansal join UrbanClap's other angel investors like Tata Sons Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata and Flipkart CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy.

Raghav Chandra, Co-Founder of UrbanClap, said, “Technology is key in our mission to empower 1 million micro-entrepreneurs. Mekin played a pivotal role in building technology that accelerated e-commerce adoption in India. We are fortunate to have him onboard as an investor. Anjali’s deep experience working with the boards of public and private organizations will help UrbanClap evolve into a long term sustainable organization.”

Mekin quoted on Twitter, “The mission of enabling economic growth for a massive number of professionals using technology, while creating customer delight is super inspiring. I am happy to be a partner in the UrbanClap journey.”

Founded in 2014, the Gurugram-based firm operates in 10 cities in India (Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Delhi NCR and others) as well as Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
