Suta, one of India’s fastest-growing mindful lifestyle brands launched its flagship store in Namma Bengaluru. The store, located in the heart of Indiranagar’s shopping district, is a one-stop destination for all customers’ apparel and lifestyle needs.
The brand Suta is a contemporary design house that specializes in creating a range of attire that blend traditional handicrafts with a fresh design perspective. Adorned by numerous celebrities, including Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan, Kangana Ranaut, Mithila Palkar, Komal Pandey, and more, Suta’s crafted inspirations are hailed for their bold designs, elegant aesthetics, and ease of wear. The word Suta, which means ‘thread’, is the brand's inspiration and harkens back to the craft traditions of India. Su- Sujata and Ta- Taniya, the brand’s founders were elated when they discovered the magic of the syllables in their names and decided to dedicate their enterprise to the humblest product we meet and live with every day.
Bengaluru has always had a special connection with Suta – interestingly, even before the brand was conceived, founders Sujata and Taniya Biswas were so taken by the city that they wanted to create something special for it.
“We were so moved by the beautiful weather, the young, vivacious buzz in the air, and the welcoming smiles of everyone who crossed our paths that we knew this was the place to be. With Suta, we realize how important a role Bengaluru will play in our story, in sight of the numerous artisanal clusters located in the vicinity of the city and the centuries-old legacy of arts and crafts that this area is storesthe birthplace of,” Sujata shared.
The store’s décor and theme are also deeply intertwined with the cultural roots of Bengaluru and with what makes Suta, Suta. The design itself was inspired by the sights, sounds, and memories that flood Bengaluru’s streets and by-lanes – the teak wood shelves lining the shops, the yellowing newspaper that protects heirloom fabrics, and the stone floors that feel cool to touch under bare feet on even the hottest summer days.
The store is adorned not with objets d’art, but rather objects of every day, handmade with love and strewn around ancestral homes and in countless memories. Inside the store, you’ll find exquisitely carved wooden frames, glimpses of kadappa stone, and a deep love and respect for artisans scenting our sarees, blouses, menswear, home décor, and accessories. You’ll find a deep admiration for India’s artisanal heritage, a space that is intimate but spacious, cozy niches and mirrored walls that are functional but undeniably beautiful, and above all, a store that is undeniably Suta.
“Over the years, Bengaluru has been one of our top cities to visit with our Suta Bazaar exhibitions. We’ve held three so far and, each time, we’ve been overwhelmed with just how much love and support we’ve received from this city. It was only natural for us, therefore, to conceive our flagship store in a city that has always loved and embraced us,” Taniya said.
The eagerly-anticipated store launch took place on November 4th and was a closed-door event graced by renowned actors and influencers including Ragini Prajwal, Madhuri Braganza, Shwetha R Prasad, Kavya Shetty, and many more. The store opened to customers from November 5th onwards, marking the beginning of yet another chapter in Bengaluru’s long and storied relationship with Suta.
