IHG Expands into North East India with New Holiday Inn in Guwahati

IHG Hotels & Resorts has revealed a management deal with Yuvaan Developers Private Limited for the upcoming Holiday Inn Guwahati in North-East India.

Anticipated to launch in January 2028, this 150-room new-build hotel marks a substantial advancement in IHG's expansion plan, aligning with the rising need for well-branded lodging in India's secondary markets.

Guwahati is serving as a key entry point to northeastern India, has transformed into a vibrant economic center with growing Special Economic Zones, well-established industrial manufacturing zones, and flourishing sectors in healthcare and education.

Additionally, the city has become a sought-after tourist hotspot in the region, drawing both domestic and international visitors interested in exploring tea gardens, wildlife sanctuaries, and ancient temples.

Its significance as a hub for investment, commerce, and tourism adds to its appeal for a diverse range of guests, spanning corporate and leisure segments.

Conveniently positioned on Azara road, Holiday Inn Guwahati ensures easy access from both the Guwahati Airport and the primary city center.

Alongside contemporary and well-equipped guest rooms, the hotel will present three dining choices, encompassing an all-day dining venue, a bar, and a lobby lounge.

The hotel will also include four meeting rooms and a banquet hall, offering signature amenities tailored for social events and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) opportunities.

“We are excited to bring the globally renowned Holiday Inn brand to the bustling city of  Guwahati. Guwahati is one of the fastest-growing cities in the north- eastern part of the country and holds immense potential for trade, commerce and tourism.  We are keen to leverage this growing demand and provide true hospitality to travellers visiting the city.” said Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts.

He added, “The rapid expansion of IHG brands in the country is in line with increasing demand, and the growing potential of secondary markets. We are strategically introducing our brands to newer markets to fill the need gap of quality branded accommodation”.

IHG presently manages 45 hotels under five distinct brands in India, which include Six Senses, InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn Resort, and Holiday Inn Express.

The brand plans to open 45 new hotels within the next 3-5 years.
