Tomato Shortage Hits Burger King India Amid Soaring Prices

Due to ongoing elevated prices, Burger King India customers are now missing out on tomatoes in their wraps and burgers.

"According to a Reuters report on August 16th, notices were displayed at two Burger King India locations stating that 'Even tomatoes deserve a break... we regret being unable to include tomatoes in our dishes.'"

Burger King, which boasts almost 400 branches, ranks among India's major burger chains. It's worth mentioning that competitors like McDonald's and Subway have likewise eliminated tomatoes from their offerings.

The American sandwich franchise has even discontinued the complimentary cheese slices that were available at its stores for several years.

A query on Burger King India's website support section asks, "Where have the tomatoes in my burgers gone?" The response assures customers that the Indian franchisee adheres to stringent quality standards and ensures the imminent return of tomatoes to the menu.

Additionally, the statement urges for your patience and comprehension.

Requests for commentary from Reuters went unanswered by Restaurant Brands Asia, the entity responsible for Burger King Operations in India.

The retail inflation data for July, which was unveiled this week, indicated a 37% annual increase in vegetable prices. Essential items such as onions, peas, garlic, and ginger have all experienced a surge in costs.

In response to the ongoing supply challenges, the government has initiated the importation of tomatoes from Nepal.

Additionally, they have arranged mobile vans to distribute this essential product at more affordable prices nationwide. As per reports on social media, substantial lines have frequently formed in various locations across the country.

GOOD FLIPPIN' BURGERS launches Good Giving Water, ventures into Purpose led Products

QSR Chain GOOD FLIPPIN’ BURGERS® has ventured into purpose led products, by launching GOOD GIVING WATER through their initiative, GOOD GIVING LIVING.

This initiative adopts a three-pronged approach:

  • Good for you. A half-litre bottle of GOOD GIVING WATER contains 10-13% of the recommended daily intake of zinc.
  • Good for the community. 100% of the profit from sales of GOOD GIVING WATER will be used to address an issue that is a top priority for some of our communities - fresh and clean drinking water, free from chemical pollutants. The brand is working with local non-governmental organisations to implement these initiatives.
  • 100% Recyclable. The brand encourages customers to help recycle each and every PET bottle used for GOOD GIVING WATER. These bottles are collected and recycled with the help of the task-force at Lucro Plastecycle, a company at the forefront of recycling and making recycled plastic packaging from post-consumer plastic waste for a sustainable tomorrow.

According to a report published by UNICEF in 2017, only 50% of the Indian population has access to safe drinking water, devoid of chemical contaminants and toxins. The first project to plough back the proceeds of GOOD GIVING WATER entails the installation of filtration systems to make bore-well water potable for underprivileged households in the two cities. Brand took its first step – distributing water filters to families living in the industrial suburb of Kalwa, in Thane near Mumbai.

“We are elated to introduce GOOD GIVING WATER as a part of our brand portfolio in keeping with our brand ethos of love. Over the past few years, the consumer mindset has seen a sea change in its awareness and concern for sustainability. As part of our ‘internal vision’ board, we at GFB have always been mindful of the sustainability of our products and processes said, Viren D’Silva, Co-founder, GOOD FLIPPIN’ BURGERS®

Brand aim to support the 6th UN Sustainable Development Goal, Clean Water and Sanitation with the support of their patrons in the process. The need to create open access to sustainable sources of clean water is “a mission we want to lead.”

Every bottle of GOOD GIVING WATER is available at the GOOD FLIPPIN’ BURGERS stores at Rs. 40 for 500 ml..

Burger King Unveils New Tagline, "You Rule"

QSR chain Burger King® unveils its new brand positioning and campaign, kicking off with its modernized tagline, “You Rule.”

This work is part of the change Guests nationwide will experience as the brand implements its “Reclaim the Flame” plan, which was announced on Sept. 9.

As part of this plan, a historic “Fuel the Flame” advertising co-investment agreement between BK® and its Franchisees was announced, and “You Rule” is the first campaign to start reclaiming the brand’s rightful share of voice in terms of both media investment and relevancy to Guests.

“In partnership with our new creative agency, OKRP, we’ve developed a simple and meaningful articulation of how Burger King celebrates our Guests. It embodies our purpose, embraces individuality, and elevates Have It Your Way – something our brand has always been known for – beyond pure product customization,” said Tom Curtis, Burger King North America President.

“You Rule” is a key part of the new Burger King brand positioning, and will impact every Guest touchpoint from traditional advertising to the in-restaurant experience. This campaign is the emotional articulation of “Have It Your Way” – “You Rule” is about celebrating everyday royalty, and puts the Guest at the forefront of everything the brand does.

“Advertising, at its best, is most relevant to people when you celebrate them first, not the brand. And that’s what we love about ‘You Rule’ – it invites people in with an approach that recognizes their world, not just sells them stuff,” said Tom O’Keefe, OKRP CEO.

NFC Delhi gets a new cloud-kitchen brand Burger Rush

Cloud-kitchen burger brand Burger Rush has opened its door to the customers of New Friends Colony, Delhi.

The cloud-kitchen brand is already been making waves on Swiggy and will be available for ordering on other food delivery apps like Zomato and Thrive soon.

“The secret is delivering excellent taste without compromising on health. Burger Rush believes in “Eat Good, Feel Good.” Our mind and thoughts will feel refreshed only if we eat fresh and good food,” shared Jayesh Sinha, the founder and CEO of Burger Rush.

9 of the 11 burgers offered by Burger Rush come with grilled patties and not deep-fried ones. This helps them provide their customers with delicious, yet healthy burgers.

Burger Rush has some truly unique offerings for its customers. Pineapple slaw, green apple slaw, sun-dried tomatoes sauce, to name a few, are some very innovative additions to the rather mundane world of burger toppings and sauces.

Some of their best sellers are the Angry Bird burger, the Grilled Portobello Steak burger, the BTS burger, and the Rush Special burger which is sure to be loved by all non-veg lovers.

The burgers are presently available directly through the outlet or on Swiggy.
