Wagh Bakri ED Parag Desai Dies after Attack by Street Dogs

Parag Desai, the executive director of Wagh Bakri brand of tea, passed away at a private hospital in Ahmedabad on Sunday evening. 

He suffered a brain hemorrhage after a fall last week, following a freak accident near his residence when he was attacked by street dogs during morning walk.

“With profound grief and sorrow, we regret to inform the sad demise of our beloved Shri Parag Desai, Executive Director, Wagh Bakri Tea Group who left for his heavenly abode on October 22nd, 2023, Sunday,” read an Instagram post by Wagh Bakri’s official handle.

Parag Desai was one of the two executive directors on the board of Wagh Bakri Tea Group, who led their transformation into tea lounges and e-commerce. Desai held an MBA from the Long Island University in New York, USA, and was the fourth-generation entrepreneur of the premium tea conglomerate. He spearheaded the group's sales, marketing and export departments. He was also an expert tea taster and evaluator. Apart from his incredible work profile, he had keen interests in travel and wildlife. He is survived by his wife Vidisha and daughter, Parisha.

"He was first taken to a private hospital in Prahladnagar area of Ahmedabad. As his condition began deteriorating after nearly 24 hours, he was shifted to another private hospital on Hebatpur Road. A surgery was carried out immediately," shared reports. On a ventilator for seven days, Desai succumbed to multiple health complications late on Sunday, sources confirmed.
