IHG to Open Holiday Inn Resort Dharamshala by 2027

IHG Hotels and Resorts has announced a management agreement with Aaraki Hotels and Resorts to launch the Holiday Inn Resort Dharamshala, scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2027. This development aligns with IHG’s strategy to expand its presence in India’s growing leisure and hospitality markets. The resort will add 150 rooms to IHG’s portfolio, further strengthening its footprint in the region’s retail and travel sectors.  

Situated in the Himalayan town of Dharamshala, at an altitude of approximately 5,000 feet, the resort is expected to attract both domestic and international travelers. Dharamshala is known for its scenic views, temperate climate, and spiritual significance as the residence of the Dalai Lama. The destination is also recognized for its cricket stadium and inclusion in India’s Smart Cities initiative, highlighting its potential for sustainable tourism and urban development.  

The resort will feature a variety of facilities, including standard rooms and suites, an all-day dining restaurant, a bar, a lobby lounge, a fitness center, retail outlets, and a resort center. For events and gatherings, the hotel will offer meeting spaces, including a grand ballroom. Additionally, the introduction of the Open Lobby concept will reimagine the traditional hotel lobby into a multifunctional space designed for work, dining, and relaxation.

Globally, IHG manages over 6,400 hotels across more than 100 countries, with plans for over 2,200 additional properties in its development pipeline.  

This project is part of IHG’s ongoing efforts to cater to the evolving preferences of leisure and business travelers, offering recognized global hospitality standards across India.

Joy joins the team with extensive experience from his previous roles at Novotel Bengaluru Outer Ring Road and Ibis Bengaluru Outer Ring Road, where he oversaw IT operations for 526 rooms.  

Joy's professional expertise includes IT strategy and planning, operational systems support, business continuity, and disaster recovery. His work has consistently focused on ensuring smooth technology infrastructure operations and supporting various business functions. He holds a Diploma in Computer Hardware and Networking, complementing his technical experience.  

In his new role, Joy will manage IT operations across both Goa properties, ensuring the technology infrastructure supports business operations while enhancing efficiency and the overall user experience. His responsibilities include maintaining cybersecurity, managing vendor relationships, optimizing IT budgets, and staying updated on emerging technologies.  

He will also lead technology-driven initiatives such as cloud services integration and AI-based solutions to maintain the hotels' competitive edge in the hospitality industry.

Dr. Yadav highlighted Madhya Pradesh's growing tourism sector, attributing the record 11 crore tourist visits this year to collective efforts in promoting the state’s natural and cultural wealth. He acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s support in enhancing the state’s wildlife preservation programs, including the recent release of leopards into Kuno’s forests.  

State Tourism Minister Shri Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi noted the Tourism Department’s strategic efforts to boost tourism while promoting women’s economic empowerment. He announced that 23 local women have been trained and appointed across various hotel roles, including management, housekeeping, kitchen, and security.  

Shri Lodhi also revealed the upgraded Hotel Neelamber Sky Line, now featuring 16 luxury rooms, modern amenities, an infinity pool, landscaped gardens, and a panoramic viewing point overlooking Pachmarhi.  

Principal Secretary of Tourism and Culture Department, Shri Sheo Shekhar Shukla, shared updates on the Safe Tourism Destination project, which provides self-defense and skill training to 40,000 women across 50 tourist destinations. Additionally, 10,000 women are receiving specialized training in tourism and hospitality, with future plans to establish hotels operated entirely by differently-abled individuals.  

The event concluded with a film screening showcasing the achievements of the Safe Tourism Destination project and a traditional Bundelkhandi folk dance dedicated to Mother Durga. Senior officials, including Managing Director Dr. Ilayya Raja T and Collector Smt. Sonia Meena, were also present at the occasion.

Ventive Hospitality Limited, formerly known as ICC Realty (India) Private Limited, has secured approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for its initial public offering (IPO). The company, which focuses on luxury offerings across business and leisure segments, plans to issue equity shares with a face value of Rs 1 each, with the total offer size of up to Rs 2,000 crore.

Ventive Hospitality was founded as the hospitality division of Panchshil Realty, a real estate conglomerate based in Pune. In 2017, BRE Asia (formerly Xander Investment Holding XVI Limited), an affiliate of Blackstone, acquired a 50 percent stake in the company, making it a joint venture. 

The company owns and operates luxury hospitality assets across India and the Maldives, with properties managed by global operators such as Marriott, Hilton, Minor, and Atmosphere. Its portfolio includes 11 operational assets with 2,036 keys as of March 31, 2024, a significant increase from just 83 keys in 2007. Key assets include JW Marriott Pune, The Ritz-Carlton Pune, Conrad Maldives, Anantara Maldives, and Raaya by Atmosphere Maldives.

Ventive Hospitality has expanded its footprint by developing and acquiring properties in new regions, including Bengaluru, Varanasi, and the Maldives. As of March 31, 2024, the portfolio consists of seven hospitality assets with 1,331 keys developed by the company, and four assets with 705 keys acquired. Since 2019, the company has added 1,070 keys, which make up over 50 percent of the total portfolio.

The company’s luxury hospitality assets have contributed over 80 percent of its pro forma revenue from hotel operations in FY24, FY23, and FY22. In terms of revenue and EBITDA, Ventive Hospitality ranked among the top listed hospitality asset owners in India during this period.

Ventive believes it is well-positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for hospitality in key markets, including India and the Maldives. The company plans to expand its portfolio by 367 keys, or 18.02 percent, by FY2028 through new development projects in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, Bengaluru, Karnataka, and Sri Lanka.

The IPO will be managed by JM Financial Limited, Axis Capital Limited, HSBC Securities and Capital Markets (India) Private Limited, ICICI Securities Limited, IIFL Securities Limited, Kotak Mahindra Capital Company Limited, and SBI Capital Markets Limited.

The Aurangabad property joins the brand's growing list of ventures, including recent agreements for hotels in Tirupati, Mysore, and Nagpur. The 67-room property at Kota, The Eco (Satva), Kota, is scheduled to open by December 15. Located opposite Oxy Park, this hotel will feature a rooftop restaurant, GGs, which has already garnered attention locally. Additionally, EcoXpress (Satva), a 44-room property in Nagpur, is also set to commence operations in December and will include a dancefloor called Kick in the Brick and another rooftop dining option under the GGs brand.  

The company is also preparing for the March 2025 launch of The Eco (Satva), Baroda. Meanwhile, its Mysore property, spanning 2.5 acres and featuring 90 rooms, will incorporate a high-end wellness center. The restaurant chain SAHAR, specializing in vegetarian food based on Jain food philosophy, is part of the company's strategy to offer diverse and sustainable dining options.  

Eco Hotels is embracing advanced construction methods to accelerate its growth. Using 3D volumetric construction technology under its EBOT model, the company plans to build 100-room hotels within 24 weeks. The first of these is slated for Ayodhya, with discussions already underway. The group has also signed an MoU with the Uttar Pradesh government to establish 10 hotels in the state. These properties aim to achieve net carbon zero standards, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainability.

Our present projects are expected to be delivered by 2028. The construction is in full swing at all our seven properties across the globe. Echor Hotels Pvt Ltd has opened its 15th property, Echor Hill Farm Cottages, in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. Known for its focus on offbeat locations, the hospitality brand aims to combine luxury with the natural serenity of India’s lesser-explored regions. The new property highlights Echor’s ongoing efforts to expand its footprint in the hospitality and retail landscape in India.  

Echor Hill Farm Cottages features six 450-square-foot cottages, each designed for comfort and to offer panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayas. The cottages include private balconies and furnishings that emphasize relaxation. Guests can also engage in activities such as exploring local tea gardens, guided treks, and birdwatching.

Recent transactions in Bangalore’s Whitefield and Hyderabad’s Hitec City are expected to significantly expand SAMHI’s upscale and upper-upscale inventory. This expansion supports the company’s broader goal of increasing its market presence and enhancing its portfolio with premium assets in high-demand office markets.

Its properties are primarily located across South Indian states, including Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, and the Union territories of Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Pondicherry.

Brigade Hotel Ventures Limited operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Brigade Enterprises Limited (BEL), a major Indian real estate developer that entered the hospitality sector in 2004. BEL’s hospitality journey began with the development of its first property, Grand Mercure Bangalore, which opened in 2009. Today, Brigade Hotel Ventures manages a portfolio of nine hotels spread across Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Mysuru, and GIFT City (Gujarat), comprising 1,604 rooms.

The company’s hotels operate in partnership with globally recognized hospitality brands such as Marriott, Accor, and InterContinental Hotels Group, covering segments from upper upscale to midscale. Radisson Hotel Group's initiative empowers these guests by providing the means to make meal selections independently. In some properties, audio QR codes are being introduced, allowing guests to listen to the menu options at their own pace. These innovations are set to expand to other hotels within the Group’s portfolio, further enhancing the accessibility of dining services.

The fresh capital will be used to strengthen Yu’s distribution network and expand its food portfolio. Additionally, Yu plans to grow its beverage line by introducing 100 percent fruit juices with no added sugar, according to the company’s press release.

Founded in 2021 by Bharat Bhalla and Varun Kapur, Yu is an omni-channel brand that offers a variety of instant food and beverages, all made from 100 percent natural ingredients. Initially focused on instant cup noodles and pasta, the company has since diversified into ready-to-cook products and natural beverages.

Yu claims its distribution network spans over 7,500 stores across India, and the brand is available on major Q-commerce and E-commerce platforms like Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, and Amazon. It has also expanded internationally, with products now sold in over 2,000 retail outlets in South Africa.

The signing ceremony was attended by key executives, including Dimitris Manikis, President of EMEA, and Panos Loupasis, Market Managing Director of TMEA, from Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, as well as Govind Mundra, Head of Development for the Middle East and Africa at Wyndham, and Dinesh Yadav, Director of Fine Acers and GBR.

Dinesh Yadav, Managing Director of Fine Acers Group and GBR said, "After our successful partnership with Wyndham Grand Jaipur last year, we are excited to strengthen our ties with Wyndham Hotels and Resorts. This agreement will see the launch of four hotels under the Kamah brand, delivering a luxury and wellness experience within the Trademark Collection by Wyndham." He further highlighted that the new properties will be located in Dubai, Coorg, Jawai, and Udaipur, with future expansions planned in global destinations, including North America, Australia, and Europe, as well as Indian locations like Goa, Lonavala, and Dharamshala.

Imran Khan, International Director at Kamah, emphasized the need for strategic partnerships in the wellness hospitality sector to foster both growth and innovation. According to Khan, such collaborations will help address the gaps in this expanding market segment.

The four upcoming properties include Kamah Hotel at Al Jaddaf Waterfront, Dubai, and three Indian resorts: Kamah Resorts Coorg, Kamah Resorts Jawai, and Kamah Resorts Udaipur. These resorts will follow a branded residences model, offering investors the opportunity to own units in internationally branded properties located in prime leisure destinations. 

This partnership introduces the Trademark Collection by Wyndham into the UAE for the first time, marking a milestone for both Kamah and Wyndham's growth strategies. The Trademark Collection by Wyndham is known for its soft-branded approach, allowing midscale to upscale properties to retain their unique character while benefiting from Wyndham’s global presence.

Govind Mundra, Head of Development for the Middle East and Africa at Wyndham Hotels and Resorts stated, "We are pleased to extend our collaboration with Fine Acers Group and bring the Trademark Collection by Wyndham to the UAE.
