Neha Rawat Takes Over as General Manager at Pride Elite Haridwar

Neha Rawat has been named the new General Manager of Pride Elite Haridwar, marking her third term with the Pride Hotel Group. This appointment underscores Neha's long-standing connection with the group and her extensive expertise in hospitality management.

With over 15 years in the industry, Neha has a solid background in managing front office operations, strategic planning, team leadership, and customer relations. Her prior experience includes leadership roles at Modi Yoga Retreat and Pride Hotel and Resort, both in Rishikesh, where she was involved from the start.

Neha holds a degree from Kumaon University and a diploma in Aviation and Hospitality Management from Frankfinn Institute. She is also pursuing an MBA from William Carey University. Her qualifications in sales, marketing, budget analysis, and organizational management are expected to offer new insights to Pride Elite Haridwar.

In her role as General Manager, Neha will oversee hotel operations, ensuring adherence to brand standards while aiming to enhance guest satisfaction, profitability, and market presence. Her leadership is expected to bolster Pride Elite's standing in the region.

Kamah Hotels and Resorts, a growing luxury and wellness brand, has entered into a $70 million partnership with Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, the second-largest hotel group in the world. This collaboration will result in the development of four new properties—one in Dubai and three in India—under the Trademark Collection by Wyndham. The deal, finalized at the Future Hospitality Summit 2024 in Dubai, represents a significant expansion for Kamah’s portfolio, developed by Fine Acers Group in India and Global Branded Residences (GBR) internationally, marking a notable step for India’s hospitality sector.

The signing ceremony was attended by key executives, including Dimitris Manikis, President of EMEA, and Panos Loupasis, Market Managing Director of TMEA, from Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, as well as Govind Mundra, Head of Development for the Middle East and Africa at Wyndham, and Dinesh Yadav, Director of Fine Acers and GBR.

Dinesh Yadav, Managing Director of Fine Acers Group and GBR said, "After our successful partnership with Wyndham Grand Jaipur last year, we are excited to strengthen our ties with Wyndham Hotels and Resorts. This agreement will see the launch of four hotels under the Kamah brand, delivering a luxury and wellness experience within the Trademark Collection by Wyndham." He further highlighted that the new properties will be located in Dubai, Coorg, Jawai, and Udaipur, with future expansions planned in global destinations, including North America, Australia, and Europe, as well as Indian locations like Goa, Lonavala, and Dharamshala.

Imran Khan, International Director at Kamah, emphasized the need for strategic partnerships in the wellness hospitality sector to foster both growth and innovation. According to Khan, such collaborations will help address the gaps in this expanding market segment.

The four upcoming properties include Kamah Hotel at Al Jaddaf Waterfront, Dubai, and three Indian resorts: Kamah Resorts Coorg, Kamah Resorts Jawai, and Kamah Resorts Udaipur. These resorts will follow a branded residences model, offering investors the opportunity to own units in internationally branded properties located in prime leisure destinations. 

This partnership introduces the Trademark Collection by Wyndham into the UAE for the first time, marking a milestone for both Kamah and Wyndham's growth strategies. The Trademark Collection by Wyndham is known for its soft-branded approach, allowing midscale to upscale properties to retain their unique character while benefiting from Wyndham’s global presence.

Govind Mundra, Head of Development for the Middle East and Africa at Wyndham Hotels and Resorts stated, "We are pleased to extend our collaboration with Fine Acers Group and bring the Trademark Collection by Wyndham to the UAE. This is just the beginning, with many more properties planned, aligning with Wyndham’s ‘Owners First’ policy. Udaipur and Coorg are well-established tourist destinations, while Jawai is gaining popularity as a destination in Rajasthan.

Both India and the UAE are significant growth markets for the hospitality industry. Dubai continues to serve as a major global tourism hub, contributing 9 percent to the UAE's GDP in 2022, with expectations to increase this to 15 percent by 2031, according to the UAE's Ministry of Economy. With this new venture, ITC Hotels will have nearly 540 rooms across Madhya Pradesh. The company's current presence includes two operating WelcomHeritage properties in Pench and Pachmarhi, with additional Welcomhotels planned in Jabalpur, Gwalior, and Bhopal.

Mandu, an ancient fort city known for its architectural splendor and historical significance, is situated approximately two hours from Indore. The revitalization of Lunera ki Sarai into Welcomhotel Mandu is expected to attract tourists, history enthusiasts, and art aficionados seeking a unique lodging experience in the region.

Eco Hotels is eager to secure a strong presence quickly. Even in our first year of operation, we already have over 200 rooms in service. The Disney Imagination Garden is designed as an enchanted valley, inspired by Disney’s iconic stories, and features vibrant, open-air landscapes set against a three-deck-tall storybook castle art piece—a first for Disney Cruise Line. This central hub will also include a state-of-the-art theatrical stage, two quick-service eateries, a bar, and garden-view staterooms, offering guests a blend of dining, entertainment, and retail experiences in a single area.

Disney Imagination Garden is the heart of the Disney Adventure, where our guests will interact with our Disney, Pixar, and Marvel stories in new ways,” said Laura Cabo, portfolio executive creative director at Walt Disney Imagineering. She emphasized the opportunities this space provides for innovative design, creating experiences that blend entertainment with Disney's rich storytelling legacy.

The Disney Imagination Garden is one of seven uniquely themed areas on the Disney Adventure, which also includes Disney Discovery Reef, San Fransokyo Street, Wayfinder Bay, Town Square, Marvel Landing, and Toy Story Place. More details about these areas are expected to be shared as the launch date approaches.

Exploring Disney Imagination Garden

The Disney Imagination Garden is designed to evoke the feel of a classic pop-up storybook, featuring landscapes with decorative foliage, shaped topiaries, and scenic props like towering trellises. The area will be anchored by the Garden Stage on one end and the larger-than-life castle artwork on the other, offering families a place to explore, dine, and enjoy entertainment throughout the day.

At the heart of the garden is the Garden Stage, equipped with three-deck-high LED screens and special effects, providing a platform for high-energy shows, character appearances, and other entertainment. One of the signature shows, "Avengers Assemble!," will feature Marvel Super Heroes in an action-packed performance, including the debut of Deadpool on Disney Cruise Line.

Dining and Entertainment

Disney Imagination Garden will house two quick-service eateries: Mowgli’s Eatery and Gramma Tala’s Kitchen, both continuing the immersive storytelling theme. Mowgli’s Eatery will serve Indian cuisine with a focus on regional dishes inspired by "The Jungle Book," while Gramma Tala’s Kitchen will offer Pacific and Asian flavors in a setting inspired by "Moana."

Families staying in the new Garden View staterooms will have verandahs overlooking the Disney Imagination Garden, providing easy access to this central area and its many offerings.

The Disney Adventure is scheduled to begin sailing from Singapore in 2025, offering three- and four-night voyages throughout the region. The ship will be a destination in itself, with numerous opportunities for families to enjoy Disney’s signature entertainment and hospitality without leaving the vessel.

The Disney Adventure, with a passenger capacity of approximately 6,700 and around 2,500 crew members, will sail from the Marina Bay Cruise Centre as part of a five-year collaboration between Disney Cruise Line and the Singapore Tourism Board.

In his new role, Basak will oversee the sales budget, monitor expenses, and ensure financial targets are met. His responsibilities also include maintaining sales volume and pricing strategies by staying informed on market trends, managing a high-performing sales team, and tracking competitor activities.

Basak’s career in the hospitality industry has seen steady growth since he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management from Nips School of Hotel Management. Prior to this role, he served as Associate Account Director at Hyatt Hotels and Resort, where he established the first Cluster Sales operation from Eastern India. At Marriott Hotels India Pvt Limited’s National Sales Office, Basak worked as Senior Sales Manager, significantly boosting revenue and expanding the MICE and sports segments in Eastern India. He has also held key positions at IHG Hotels, Lemon Tree Hotels Limited, Fortune Park Hotels Limited, and The Stadel Kolkata.

Outside of work, Basak enjoys surfing and staying active at the gym, combining his love for the ocean with his commitment to fitness.

Jakhanwala highlighted the company's solid liquidity and strong free cash flows from operations for FY25, which are expected to support both internal and external growth initiatives. He added, "With ongoing growth in our existing portfolio, the launch of new hotels, renovations, and rebranding of ACIC assets, coupled with a strong pipeline in key markets, our growth outlook remains positive for the upcoming quarters."

Key Financial Highlights for Q1FY25:

  • RevPAR: Increased to Rs 4,276, up 13.0 percent year-on-year, reflecting robust business demand across major markets.
  • Asset Income and EBITDA: Both grew year-on-year by 31.2 percent and 31.7 percent, respectively. The positive impact of the ACIC acquisition contributed to this growth.

During the quarter, Sterling added two new resorts in Dehradun and Udaipur, bringing its total portfolio to over 50 resorts. The company has added nine new resorts since Q1 FY24, reflecting its ongoing expansion strategy.

Despite challenges such as a nationwide heat wave, travel delays due to elections, and fewer wedding dates, revenue grew by 9 percent compared to the same quarter last year. EBITDA was slightly lower than the previous year, attributed to the ramp-up phase of five recently opened resorts in Rajasthan, including three in Udaipur.

Vikram Lalvani, CEO and MD said, “Despite numerous headwinds in the first quarter, Sterling delivered its highest-ever Q1 revenues and a healthy EBITDA margin while also ramping up capacity with new resorts. With long-term demand trends continuing to be strong, Sterling is poised for sustained growth through asset-right, balanced portfolio growth across regions. Based on our expansion plans of 20 additional resorts and 1,000 keys in the next 12 to 18 months, in phases, we are also investing in building key talent to cater to this growth.

Sterling has also achieved significant accolades: 19 of its resorts are ranked No 1 in their respective locations on Trip Advisor, and 65 Vikram Lalvani are in the Top 5. Additionally, 42 out of 50 resorts hold a rating of 4.5 or above. Sterling Puri was recognized as the Best Resort for Destination Weddings (East) at the ET MICE and Wedding Tourism Awards 2024.

Growing up in Mumbai, Sidney developed an early interest in food, leading him to the Institute of Hotel Management, Mumbai. He further specialized in Food Service Management and Hospitality Management from Cornell University and Food Safety from the American Hotel and Lodging Education Institute.

With nearly two decades of experience, Sidney has worked with leading Michelin-star venues in New York under celebrity chefs such as Michel Roux Sr., Floyd Cardoz, and Hemant Oberoi. His previous role was at The Conrad Hotel in Pune, where he served as Executive Chef and later as Culinary Director. He was recognized in the Power 25 Culinary, 2022 by Hoteliers Web.

Sidney began his culinary journey in 2002, training at ITC Grand Maratha Sheraton and The Oberoi, Mumbai, before joining the Taj Management Training Program. He worked at Taj hotels in Delhi and Chennai, and later at The Taj Mahal Palace and Tower in Mumbai. He spent time at The Taj Pierre New York and The Taj Boston, introducing Indian food to their menus.

Returning to The Taj Mahal Palace and Towers in Mumbai, Sidney served as Sous Chef at Masala Kraft and later at Golden Dragon. He then moved to The Ritz Carlton in Bangalore as Chef de Cuisine and later as Executive Sous Chef. His career path led him to the JW Marriott Hotel in Pune and Mumbai, before joining The Conrad Hotel in Pune.

Sidney has developed the ability to cater to both Indian and international palates and has a deep knowledge of structuring culinary teams, launching new culinary concepts, and managing large-scale banqueting.

Outside the kitchens of Sofitel Mumbai BKC, Sidney enjoys engaging with guests and sharing his experiences. In his downtime, he likes watching football matches and spending time with his family.

This rebranding will also occur post-renovation by the end of FY2026. Jaipur, a major tourist and business hub in India, attracts both domestic and international visitors. The hotel’s central location in the city will be enhanced as part of the Tribute Portfolio, known for its unique, independent hotels that emphasize captivating design and vibrant social scenes. This rebranding is expected to significantly boost the hotel's market positioning.
