Stone Wood Hotels and Resorts has announced the opening of its latest property in Rishikesh, located in the scenic Upper Tapovan area along the Badrinath Highway. This new addition to the group's portfolio offers modern amenities alongside the natural beauty of Uttarakhand, catering to travelers looking for relaxation and adventure. 

Stone Wood Rishikesh provides easy access to popular attractions such as Laxman Jhula, Parmarth Niketan, Ram Jhula, and Beatles Ashram, along with several rafting points along the Ganges River. Conveniently located 8.7 kilometers from Rishikesh Railway Station and 23 kilometers from Jolly Grant Airport, the hotel is well-positioned for guests to explore both Rishikesh and nearby Haridwar.

The integration of AC/C is progressing smoothly, contributing to a significant margin improvement of approximately 590 basis points in Q2 FY25 compared to H1 FY24 (pre-acquisition).

SAMHI’s occupancy rate reached 75 percent in Q2, an increase from 72 percent in the same period last year, driven by demand growth in core markets. The company also recently signed a long-term variable lease in Hyderabad’s Hitec City, part of its strategic focus on expanding long-term lease assets to optimize capital efficiency and secure higher risk-adjusted returns.

Recent transactions in Bangalore’s Whitefield and Hyderabad’s Hitec City are expected to significantly expand SAMHI’s upscale and upper-upscale inventory. This expansion supports the company’s broader goal of increasing its market presence and enhancing its portfolio with premium assets in high-demand office markets.

Jakhanwala expressed, “We remain focused on near-term growth driven by strong demand for our existing assets, the strategic re-rating of portions of our portfolio following renovation and rebranding efforts, the addition of new inventory, and continued M&A activity.

Q2 FY25 Key Highlights:

  • RevPAR reached Rs. 4,529, marking a 16.5 percent YoY increase due to steady demand in key markets.
  • Occupancy rate improved to 75 percent, up from 72 percent in Q2 FY24.
  • Asset Income and Asset EBITDA saw YoY growth of 20.4 percent and 28.1 percent, respectively, boosted by same-store growth and the positive impact of the ACIC acquisition.

The company is the second-largest owner of chain-affiliated hotels and rooms in South India among private hotel asset owners with portfolios of 500 or more rooms nationwide as of June 30, 2024. Its properties are primarily located across South Indian states, including Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, and the Union territories of Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Pondicherry.

Brigade Hotel Ventures Limited operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Brigade Enterprises Limited (BEL), a major Indian real estate developer that entered the hospitality sector in 2004. BEL’s hospitality journey began with the development of its first property, Grand Mercure Bangalore, which opened in 2009. Today, Brigade Hotel Ventures manages a portfolio of nine hotels spread across Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Mysuru, and GIFT City (Gujarat), comprising 1,604 rooms.

The company’s hotels operate in partnership with globally recognized hospitality brands such as Marriott, Accor, and InterContinental Hotels Group, covering segments from upper upscale to midscale. These properties offer a variety of facilities, including dining options, MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) venues, lounges, pools, outdoor spaces, spas, and gyms, and are strategically located in densely populated and commercially significant areas.

With the introduction of Braille menus in its 125 operating hotels, including key properties in India, Radisson is prioritizing independent dining experiences for all its guests.

Visually impaired guests often face challenges when navigating traditional menus, which can lead to dependence on others or isolation during dining. Radisson Hotel Group's initiative empowers these guests by providing the means to make meal selections independently. In some properties, audio QR codes are being introduced, allowing guests to listen to the menu options at their own pace. These innovations are set to expand to other hotels within the Group’s portfolio, further enhancing the accessibility of dining services.

The fresh capital will be used to strengthen Yu’s distribution network and expand its food portfolio. Additionally, Yu plans to grow its beverage line by introducing 100 percent fruit juices with no added sugar, according to the company’s press release.

Founded in 2021 by Bharat Bhalla and Varun Kapur, Yu is an omni-channel brand that offers a variety of instant food and beverages, all made from 100 percent natural ingredients. Initially focused on instant cup noodles and pasta, the company has since diversified into ready-to-cook products and natural beverages.

Yu claims its distribution network spans over 7,500 stores across India, and the brand is available on major Q-commerce and E-commerce platforms like Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, and Amazon. It has also expanded internationally, with products now sold in over 2,000 retail outlets in South Africa.

The signing ceremony was attended by key executives, including Dimitris Manikis, President of EMEA, and Panos Loupasis, Market Managing Director of TMEA, from Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, as well as Govind Mundra, Head of Development for the Middle East and Africa at Wyndham, and Dinesh Yadav, Director of Fine Acers and GBR.

Dinesh Yadav, Managing Director of Fine Acers Group and GBR said, "After our successful partnership with Wyndham Grand Jaipur last year, we are excited to strengthen our ties with Wyndham Hotels and Resorts. This agreement will see the launch of four hotels under the Kamah brand, delivering a luxury and wellness experience within the Trademark Collection by Wyndham." He further highlighted that the new properties will be located in Dubai, Coorg, Jawai, and Udaipur, with future expansions planned in global destinations, including North America, Australia, and Europe, as well as Indian locations like Goa, Lonavala, and Dharamshala.

Imran Khan, International Director at Kamah, emphasized the need for strategic partnerships in the wellness hospitality sector to foster both growth and innovation. According to Khan, such collaborations will help address the gaps in this expanding market segment.

The four upcoming properties include Kamah Hotel at Al Jaddaf Waterfront, Dubai, and three Indian resorts: Kamah Resorts Coorg, Kamah Resorts Jawai, and Kamah Resorts Udaipur. These resorts will follow a branded residences model, offering investors the opportunity to own units in internationally branded properties located in prime leisure destinations. 

This partnership introduces the Trademark Collection by Wyndham into the UAE for the first time, marking a milestone for both Kamah and Wyndham's growth strategies. The Trademark Collection by Wyndham is known for its soft-branded approach, allowing midscale to upscale properties to retain their unique character while benefiting from Wyndham’s global presence.

The Disney Imagination Garden is designed as an enchanted valley, inspired by Disney’s iconic stories, and features vibrant, open-air landscapes set against a three-deck-tall storybook castle art piece—a first for Disney Cruise Line. This central hub will also include a state-of-the-art theatrical stage, two quick-service eateries, a bar, and garden-view staterooms, offering guests a blend of dining, entertainment, and retail experiences in a single area.

Disney Imagination Garden is the heart of the Disney Adventure, where our guests will interact with our Disney, Pixar, and Marvel stories in new ways,” said Laura Cabo, portfolio executive creative director at Walt Disney Imagineering. She emphasized the opportunities this space provides for innovative design, creating experiences that blend entertainment with Disney's rich storytelling legacy.

The Disney Imagination Garden is one of seven uniquely themed areas on the Disney Adventure, which also includes Disney Discovery Reef, San Fransokyo Street, Wayfinder Bay, Town Square, Marvel Landing, and Toy Story Place. More details about these areas are expected to be shared as the launch date approaches.

Exploring Disney Imagination Garden

The Disney Imagination Garden is designed to evoke the feel of a classic pop-up storybook, featuring landscapes with decorative foliage, shaped topiaries, and scenic props like towering trellises. The area will be anchored by the Garden Stage on one end and the larger-than-life castle artwork on the other, offering families a place to explore, dine, and enjoy entertainment throughout the day.

At the heart of the garden is the Garden Stage, equipped with three-deck-high LED screens and special effects, providing a platform for high-energy shows, character appearances, and other entertainment. One of the signature shows, "Avengers Assemble!," will feature Marvel Super Heroes in an action-packed performance, including the debut of Deadpool on Disney Cruise Line.

Dining and Entertainment

Disney Imagination Garden will house two quick-service eateries: Mowgli’s Eatery and Gramma Tala’s Kitchen, both continuing the immersive storytelling theme. Mowgli’s Eatery will serve Indian cuisine with a focus on regional dishes inspired by "The Jungle Book," while Gramma Tala’s Kitchen will offer Pacific and Asian flavors in a setting inspired by "Moana."

Families staying in the new Garden View staterooms will have verandahs overlooking the Disney Imagination Garden, providing easy access to this central area and its many offerings.

The Disney Adventure is scheduled to begin sailing from Singapore in 2025, offering three- and four-night voyages throughout the region. The ship will be a destination in itself, with numerous opportunities for families to enjoy Disney’s signature entertainment and hospitality without leaving the vessel.

The Disney Adventure, with a passenger capacity of approximately 6,700 and around 2,500 crew members, will sail from the Marina Bay Cruise Centre as part of a five-year collaboration between Disney Cruise Line and the Singapore Tourism Board.

His career also includes positions at Marriott International, where he worked at Renaissance Lucknow Hotel and Courtyard by Marriott Ahmedabad. Most recently, Pareek served as Director of Finance at The Leela Palace, New Delhi. His extensive experience across various high-profile properties equips him with valuable insights into the financial aspects of the hospitality sector.

In his new role, Pareek will manage all financial operations for The Westin Gurgaon, New Delhi, and The Westin Sohna Resort and Spa. His responsibilities include overseeing fiscal management, enhancing profitability, and ensuring financial integrity. Pareek will play a crucial role in optimizing financial processes, developing innovative finance structures, and mentoring the finance team. His focus will be on resource management, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
