TI Cycles inks brand licensing pact with US based Pacific Cycles

TI Cycles, the leading bicycle manufacturer in India, has entered into brand licensing partnership with the US based Pacific Cycles, part of Dorel Industries Inc., to bring children’s bike brand Schwinn to India. “This is the first brand licensing agreement for the Schwinn brand in India,” claimed Jeff Weiss, Senior Vice President - International Sales, Dorel Sports. TI Cycles will showcase the entire line-up of Schwinn children’s bikes during their annual dealer meeting in February 2018 which will witness an attendance of more than 300 dealers across India. Way back in 2007, TI Cycles had signed an agreement with Dorel to bring premium cycling brands such as Cannondale, Schwinn, GT and Mongoose to Indian consumers. “TI Cycles has been at the forefront of bringing the best in international cycling to the Indian market,” said Arun Alagappan, President, TI Cycles. “Our goal has always been to offer the finest products and experience to Indian consumers,” he said. The pact between the firms is valid for 33 years. Last year TI Cycles had launched Ridley - the Belgian brand of cycles. Meanwhile the company has set plans rolling to launch more bicycles on online-only platform in another two months. According to the company, this move is driven by the rising volumes in eCommerce platform. The company will launch a separate portfolio for e-commerce sales under three brands Mach City, Roadeo and Hercules in couple of months. At the moment, the company sells only ‘Brooks’ brand of cycles online. The company sold 1,000 bicycles last month alone. The company enjoys a market share of 45 per cent in performance bicycle segment. It sold 20,000 Montra bicycles in 2016 as opposed to 10,000 in 2015. The turnover for TI Cycles was Rs. 1,350 crore last fiscal.
