Anko’s All Set to Enter the Indian Market

After delighting millions across Australia and New Zealand, Anko, the much-loved brand from Australia, is all set to enter the Indian market and has appointed Pulkit Bansal as Head of Anko India.

Anko is owned by Wesfarmers Limited, one of Australia's top 10 publicly listed companies and the largest private sector employer. The Anko brand was developed in 2017 and is stocked in Kmart Australia, one of the most profitable departmental stores in the country. Anko's global home base is in Australia, with offices in China and India, and vendor partners across Asia. Close, collaborative relationships with partner factories have enabled Anko to strike an irresistible balance of high standards and affordability.

With its wide range of brilliant, simple, on-trend designed products at compelling prices, Anko is among the top retail brands in Australia for household goods. Anko products are already available in several countries outside ANZ through various strategic partnerships as part of the Anko global expansion strategy.

The company believes that there is currently a need gap in the Indian market, as there are very few good brands in categories like Home and Kitchen, Small furniture, and Toys. The aspirational Indian customer currently struggles to access contemporary international designs at affordable prices. Anko's endeavor is to plug this gap for the Indian customer by making on-trend designs accessible at amazing prices.

Pulkit Bansal has recently been appointed as Head of Anko India. In his new role, Pulkit will be responsible for developing and executing the Anko India strategy, operations management, and building the right people capability to support the growth and scaling of the Anko India business.

"Anko is a household name in Australia, and I am excited to showcase this brand to the Indian consumer. The brand stands for on-trend designs, great quality, and affordable pricing. This unique combination is sure to delight the Indian consumers," said Pulkit Bansal, Head of Anko India.

"Consumerism in India is at an all-time high, and there is a huge demand for aspirational products from the growing middle and upper middle class. Anko is uniquely positioned to serve this segment with its specialized homeware, and we are looking forward to an exciting launch," Pulkit added.

Pulkit has extensive experience in the e-commerce and retail industry. In his last assignment as Head of online Direct to Consumer business with Samsung India, he is credited with rapidly scaling and establishing Samsung.com/in as one of India's largest Brand.com destinations. In the past, Pulkit has also held significant leadership roles working with leading brands like Ola Cabs, Flipkart, and ITC Ltd. creating sustainable and long-term business growth.

Anko in India is considering a digital-first entry via D2C channels and also be present on select online marketplaces. Indian consumers can expect to lay their hands on Anko's wide range of products by early 2023.
