Learning and satisfying hunger is a different ball game altogether but IIT-Roorkee, best known for its academics and innovative ideas, has merged both of them to create a new concept. Sattviko food has recently opened its new restaurant inside the vicinity of IIT-Roorkee. This new eatery will not only going to serve food to students but will also act as a discussion platform for IIT graduates and its current pupils.
Commenting further on the move, Professor Sandeep Singh, Dean of alumni affairs and international relations of the IIT-R said that the Sattiviko Idea Cafe (SIC), which opened on Wednesday, will be a place where students of the institute will get an opportunity to interact with former graduates while sitting across the food tables. IIT-Roorkee is the only IIT in the country where such an experiment of opening of a restaurant is being done.
Sharing his views, Prasoon Gupta, one of the owners of the chain stated institute director Pradipta Banerji had suggested to open the restaurant in the campus so that the students could be encouraged in startups and starting their own business.
Director Banerji was a motivating factor and main source behind starting this venture in the institute. Not only he gave a space of 2,200 sq/ft at a very cheap rent but also offered all possible help to start this venture here, Gupta added further.
Brand offers a vegetarian cuisine to its dinners with no ginger or garlic used in any of its delicacies. This three year old venture was started by the two alumni of IIT-R Prasoon Gupta and his batch mate Ankush Sharma. Presently, the food chain carries its operations through its several branches in Delhi.
