Shakira Launches App with Fisher-Price

Fisher-Price, the wholly owned subsidiary of Mattel, together with pop singer Shakira and her Barefoot Foundation has introduced a new parenting app to encourage early childhood development.

Titled ‘Grow Parenting’, the bilingual app targets first-time parents and teachers and features 2,000 tips gathered from child psychologists, play researchers and educators. This free app also features a journal to track developmental milestones.

The app has been developed in connection with AEIOTu, Vroom, Kinedu, Fun Learning and the North American Montessori Teachers Association.

In words of Shakira, “I’ve seen the impact parents can make through the work I’ve done with my Barefoot Foundation, but in raising my own children and constantly researching and reading parenting advice online I learned that all parents would benefit from a tool that could help us better stimulate our children.”

This is the second collaboration between Fisher-Price and Shakira’s Barefoot Foundation – the two had partnered in 2014 for the co-developed ‘First Steps collection’ of baby gear and toys. Moreover Fisher-Price also sponsors the Barefoot Foundation to feed and educate children, as well as provide community support for parents.

In words of Lisa Mancuso, Senior Vice President, Global Brand Marketing, Fisher-Price, “We’re thrilled with parents’ response to our partnership with Shakira, so naturally we wanted to do more to amplify the critical importance of early childhood development stimulation.”

The ‘Grow Parenting’ app is available now for both Android and iOS devices.
