The food service industry has a direct impact on the employment; it is home to more than 4million trained and skilled employees in restaurants across the country serving the public every day. The restaurant industry is always open and the tables at India’s 1+ million restaurant and foodservice locations are always a great place to gather with friends and family. But at this point in time thousands of restaurants as part of the measures to fight the spread of Covid-19 have shut their shops to beat this heat. Restaurant owners are not just concerned about their businesses but have also cited their workforce as the backbone of their restaurants who are working day and night to run their successful businesses.
“We have been closely monitoring the situation of Covid 19 spreading across the world. We find ourselves today in an unfathomable situation where we have difficult decisions to make in order to keep you, our team and our families safe,” posted Rahul Akerkar of Qualia Mumbai on his Instagram page.
Commenting on the same AD Singh who runs India’s some of the top restaurants shared in a post, “This is an equally tough time for all who work with us and it is so painful for me that we cannot do enough to look after them through this shut down. I thank my partners and investors for their unrelenting support always.”
Also, one of the top restaurant owners in the country took to his Facebook account by announcing closure of his restaurant by adding that these are times when we need to think about our staff and patrons more than our business. He announced closure of his all restaurants till 31st March across the country.
This shows that restaurants are concerned about their staff and are taking precautionary measures and safety to keep them healthy and safe.
“The biggest contributor for making this decision has been our large workforce, and we do not wish to put anyone’s health at risk. We are heartbroken to have reached this place, but realize that it is essential for everyone’s well-being,” shared Pooja Dhingra of Le15 Patisserie who is closing her outlets for some time.
