Online shopping major Snapdeal was raided by Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for selling prescription drugs like selling Viagra and Cough syrup Ascoril which are drugs that cannot be sold without.

Online shopping major Snapdeal was raided by Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for selling prescription drugs like selling Viagra and Cough syrup Ascoril which are drugs that cannot be sold without.
Besides, the raid was carried out  on April 16 at Jasper Infotech Goregaon (west) where the Snapdeal office is located.
 
As per FDA officials the raids were carried out at the offices of Snapdeal after they were alerted to information that the website was selling Viagra and Cough syrup Ascoril which are drugs that cannot be sold without, the FDA carried a prescription out raids on April 16 at Jasper Infotech Goregaon (west) where the Snapdeal office is located.
 
Meanwhile, FDA has now issued notices on Snapdeal asking it to provide the complete agreements, invoices, chalans, payment details and the names of the medical stores and the companies through which the drugs were purchased and were being sold in their website. 
The e commerce website was also asked to stop the drugs that were being sold. According a FDA press release, its Commissioner Harshadeep Kamble has now asked his officers to also check e commerce websites like Flipkart and Amazon to see whether they too are selling such prescription drugs.
