Having over 65000 SKU’s and with access to 26 exclusive international brands like Montine, Swiss Legend, Weiqin, Royal London, Ben Sherman amongst others, eBay is bringing to its consumers more than 200 global and local brands of watches.
The overall size of the watch industry in India is presently estimated at USD 834 million, and is growing at 10% year on year. With the boom of the e-commerce industry, the current online market for watches is estimated at USD 32 million and continues to grow at a rate of 35% year on year and eBay India is the market leader with 21% of market share.
Delhi constitutes 7% of the overall sale of watches on eBay India with most shoppers preferring to buy chronograph watches. According to recent statistics, people from Delhi prefer Armani watches, followed by Guess, Michael Kors and Giordano.
Navin Mistry, Head Retail Exports and Lifestyle Category, eBay India said, “Over the years, the disposable income of Indian consumers has increased significantly, which is leading to a substantial change in their spending habits. Consumers are now shopping online for lifestyle products and women shoppers are the prominent contributors to this segment. With sellers across the globe, eBay India is able to fulfill their demands and provides a platform with an array of premium and aspirational brands”.

Over the last ten years, eBay India has focused on delivering Indian consumers a fantastic user experience to buy the widest variety of products at great prices. Lifestyle sector has always been of prime importance and eBay has always tried to make accessibility to brands easy. The ‘Online Watch Mall’ offers a wide range of watches - From Chronograph to Analog to Smart Watches and there are also exclusive Skeleton and Limited watches available. Presently out of 85,000 listings on eBay.in, 50% of watches are from the Chronograph section, 30% are analogs while 20% are smart watches.
According eBay India, there are 64% male shoppers viz a viz 36% female shoppers for watches. While both men and women majorly prefer the metal straps (Men 75% and Women 45%), some also buy leather straps (Men 20 % and women 40%) and ceramic straps (Men 10% and Women 15%). Every four minute a watch is sold on eBay India and the men’s wrist watches are top five traded products on the website.
As part of the launch, consumers can avail a minimum discount of 30% exclusively on eBay. The consumers have the option to make purchases via EMI through ICICI, Citibank and HDFC, credit cards and also redeem their PAYBACK points while shopping on ebay.in. All purchases are covered under the eBay Guarantee which ensures refund or replacement in case a consumer is unhappy with the purchase.
